Trip Report- Part 1 of too many

Post by Xislandgirl »

I make no representations about this report. I did not take notes and until I looked at my pictures(which are few, I enjoyed the moments instead of taking pictures of them this trip), I had no concept of what we did or where we went. This trip was all about no stress and we accomplished that.
(if there are spelling or grammar errors, oh well) :D

The players
Me
Chip
Johnnie- He is a veteran STJ visitor and traveled with us 2 years ago
Lynn- Johnnie's fiancee, and John from Zozo's cousin (small world)

We loved traveling with them. The had their own car and did their own thing when they felt like it, but we did stuff together to. We will plan next year's trip with them as well.

Tuesday 4.21
I did not sleep the night before. I never do. I had so much to get ready and then I am afraid that I will sleep through the alarm and miss the plane. We were up at 3:00am. It was cold and rainy and I was excited but cranky. J & L arrived at 4:00 and we loaded up the bags and headed to the airport.
Check in was more than a breeze and the TSA agent told me that I was very polite. I guess the TSA agents are used to people even crankier than me at that ungodly hour.

We decided it was time to eat before we go on our flight so we surveyed our options at the airport at 4:30am. After much deliberation, we decided that Egg McMuffin's would be the perfect breakfast or the only option but we were up for it. After 12 weeks of Weight Watchers, I felt a little guilty but I was starving.

First flight to Atlanta was a breeze and we decided that we would just grab some pre-made sandwiches for the next flight. When we got on the flight and arrived at a comfortable cruising altitude we opened them up to discover they each had 48 grams a fat. :? I should have had a second Egg McMuffin; it would have been less fat.
OK, I am babbling about nonsense. Sorry.

We arrived on time, Rachel was waiting and we had a great visit while on the way to Red Hook. We made the 3:00 boat with no issues in no time we were on island. I handed off 3 pounds of steamahs to Ruth and she gave me the box I sent and a bottle of wine. I love Ruth!

I ran to Varlack to pick up Sluggo; what we named our beat up 4 door Suzuki. It had almost 25K on it and had been repainted at some point. I think they used spray paint cans, but it has been a long time ago because there were more scratches, scrapes, and dings than me after a night of drinking.
We met J&L and the greeter at the Marketplace and headed to STJ Passion.

The house was...the house. It really was a nice lay-out and the view was great. It is a little worn and a VERY dated but it was clean and had everything we needed. The screens on the sliders were a pain in the a$$ but other than that we had no real issues. Would I recommend it to a newbie? No. Would we rent it again? Yes.
It was fine for what we needed and the price was right.

This is where things get foggy. After 12 weeks of counting the point value of everything I ate or drank, my tolerance dropped. I had not had more than 6 alcoholic beverages in the entire 3 months before our trip and I really should have remembered that.

There was an honor bar and some snacks at the house and a case of water. We had some Crystal light and made a drink and settled in.

After a swim in the pool, Chip and I decided that we would head to Lime Inn. This is where my night gets foggy. We stop at Quiet Mon for a pre-dinner drink. Kenny is bartending and Tyler is at the bar.

A few drinks later, Chip drags me out to get food in my stomach. I guess the 48 fat gram sandwich was not enough to soak up the rum. :P

We have a great dinner at Lime Inn and another drink and decide that it is the perfect time to go to the Banana Deck to meet Bug. Bonus!! Marcia and Pete are there too. After a few more, I realize that I may have been over-served and need to leave. We say our goodbyes and on the way to the car, I come up with the brilliant idea that we need to stop at Larry's for one more.

We finally decide to head back to the house and crash hard...no big surprise.

It was a great travel day...I think :P

I would just like to point out that Kenny's bartending skills are also responsible for many of the fuzzy parts in my trip reports!
