Day 6 – It’s Raining Men
A bit of rain with our morning coffee today. MP had sent us home last night with the biggest pork loin roast I have ever seen. The plan is to cook it at Vistaero tonight. Well, I get a jump on things and coat it with garlic, rosemary, thyme, oregano and olive oil and bake it for an hour and half.
We decide that we will head out to … Trunk. I know, I know, with so many beautiful beaches, why do we keep going back to the most clichéd? Honestly, I think it is a function of having such a large group. Trunk has something for everyone. Plus, it’s my BFF Tom’s favorite beach and he is the ultimate Cabana Boy. He packs the coolers, packs the jeeps, drives the drunks around the island, takes out the garbage, cleans the pool. I figure the least I can do it succumb to his beach choice and, let’s face it, it’s no hardship to spend the day here.

It is sprinkling when we get to the beach, so we set up near a tree. Barely get settled when the rain gets a little harder. Cousin Pete and I head to the snack bar for some painkillers. One “darling” in that California accent and the Trunk Bay ladies were loving Pete. Who could resist?

I have to say, we tasted Painkillers all over all islands, and the ones we had that day at Trunk were far and away the best EVER. I think it was because she was “makin em with love” for Pete. We eat a little lunch in the rain and head back with another round of Painkillers for the group, who have now taken refuge under the pavillons.
We meet a great couple with an adorable baby. When I asked the baby’s name, I could have sworn they said “Dude”. Maybe the awesome painkillers were affecting my hearing? I said, “That is the coolest thing, you named your baby Dude!” They looked at me like I was crazy and said, “No, Jude.” “Oh”, I said, “That’ nice, too.”
The sky clears a bit and we head back to the beach. Once in the water, the rain really starts coming down. We all start singing songs with the word “rain” in them. One of the best things about a rainy day, is that there is no one on the beach. There were maybe 20 people at Trunk, and folks were shouting out requests and singing along. It was awesome!! My personal favorite, “It’s Raining Men”. Too, too, fun. Once the sun re-emerged (briefly), we started singing songs with the word “sun” in them. Just a great day at the beach!!
As we head back to the villa, aided by the awesome painkillers, I decide to just stick the camera out the window and snap pictures as we all sing along with the radio. Not surprising, most of the shots are crap. However, one or two are actually not too bad!

Back at the villa, I toss together a cheese a fruit platter for the folks on the deck, make a yummy gravy, put the roast back in the oven together with a pan of MP’s amazing Mac n Cheese, re-saute last night’s grilled veggies, open the wine and we have us a dinner!! The California Cousins are leaving tomorrow (sob) so we enjoyed one last big group dinner. After dinner, the Celtics mega overtime game saps our will to go down to the hill for one last night out.
Me, Tom and Monique end up on the deck for an hour or two with the lights out watching the stars. It was like they were on top of us!! We barely spoke, just gazed, held hands a little, and shared a last happy tear.

Yet another incredible moment and another fabulous day. Off to bed.

Paula, I am enjoying your trip report immensly! I feel like I am on vacation with you. I must say, however, it's sort of like reading a chick flick. I have this uncontrollable urge to go out and blow something up, or go rent a Sylvester Stallone movie......
Seriously, great stuff! Makes me just that much more anxious to get down there in July!!
