Day charter

Post by new york girl »

After reading lots of post I think it would be a great idea to go out on a boat with my family. Can I get suggestions on which boat trips are good for a family. We are interested in snorkeling and seeing some beautiful scenery. I personally like the trips that include rum punches. Hope that narrows it down a bit.

Are you looking for a day sail, or power boat? How old are your kids, and what month are you going? Also, do you want a larger boat with more people or just a boat for your family?

Have fun planning!!

Not sure what is best for my family. Need advice on this matter. My boys are 11 and 14 but we have never snorkeled. We are going to St. John in July. I personally would just love to sail around the island and take in the beauty, but some kind of activity for the kids would be great. On a side note this New York girl is originally from Houston. Thanks so much, I would love more opinions on this subject. Can I be a pain and also get an idea of the cost as well.

Sailing

Breath is a great boat for families and kids. Biggest boat built in St John, with loads of history. Check out www.sailbreath.com.

We just had a great Day Sail with Rick & Robin on Long Distance out of Coral Bay. Both are friendly & charming and Kiwi (their itsy dog) is a hoot. $90 apiece.

Sailed out to Flannigan's and back into Water Creek/Princess Bay...basically around the East End/Coral Bay area.

Nice snorkel spots including a mangrove area (pretty unique). NOT a party boat but adult beverages are served.

Have you Thought about a trip to the Baths over in the BVI's? The Kids would just love that
They also take you to a great snorkel spot
We went on the Stormey Petrel
The cost was $125.00 plus $20.00 custom fee and Lunch but all your fun drinks were included
They also tell great pirate stories on the way their and back

We did a day charter in March and it was the best day of our week. We went out with Lion in Da Sun. cost was about $600 if I remember right. You can read my trip report below.

Thanks everyone for all your suggestions. My family and I have decided to go with Long Distance for the sail. We dont want to have to deal with customs and all that stuff. Long Distance seems to be just what we need. Thanks again. I have gotten so much advice from this forum. Will be in St. John in July cant wait!!!
