Morning Flights to STT

Post by jhillss »

We are trying to get to St. Thomas as early in the day as possible. We are having trouble finding morning flights from Atlanta, Tampa, Fort Lauderdale, Miami. Any suggestions?

In a couple of weeks we are taking a Delta flight out of Atanta departing at 10:00 am, arriving in STT 1:45.

They don't really leave "early" meaning 6:30am etc (except from JFK) as they try to allow people to connect in those airports, that leave early from their home town - ie: a 6am flight out of Kansas City arriving with time to make the 10am Delta flight out of ATL (if that makes sense)

You can try to fly the night before to San Juan, spend the night and take an early flight to STT but that would mean either adding a day to your vacation (then why not add it and go direct to STT) or taking a day of your vacation in SJU but not what you have in mind I think

I don't know where you are coming from but USAir services SJU frequently. Check out a combination of USAir and Cape Air. They code share to STT.

We will likely follow Pia's suggestion for our next trip as we need to overnight prior to any STT flight anyway, might as well drive straight to the airport from home.

We are looking into a late morning/afternoon flight to SJU, spending the night in San Juan and getting Cape Air in the late morning.

I'd love to be able to get a red-eye into STT, or at least an after-work flight from DC. The best we've been able to do is get in a day early and stay on STT the first night.

Rick-- I'd back you on that one. SUPER frustrating since we can get most places around the country or even the world after work from our neck of the woods (one thing I LOVE about living near DC).

JHillss-- If you've got some extra cash to burn you could charter your own flight....

Since all those execs getting federal bailout money are afraid to use them maybe they might give you a cut rate...

Hey-- i's an option 8)

This is actually the conundrum I'm facing. I live in New York, so I have the benefit of the direct flights, but I'm trying to maximize my time on STJ (and minimize the time I'm taking off of work) as I will only be down there for a long weekend for the wedding we have.

My current plan is to either

a) take off a half day on Thursday, take a flight in the early afternoon to SJU in time for the last Cape Air flight to STT, stay over in STT and get an early morning ferry; or

b) work a full day, get an evening flight to SJU, stay over near the airport in SJU and take the first flight out to STT in the morning and go directly to the ferry.

Not sure which one we are going to attempt.
