Sidney's on Jost

Post by AnyTing »

I've been to Sidney's Peace & Love for dinner and loved, loved, loved it. This time I'll be there on a Sunday during the day only. Does anyone know when they are open on Sundays and what the "Lobster - Pig Speical" might be? I'm trying to determine whether it will be possible to go there for lunch and score some lobster.

I know I can just call and ask, but what fun is there in that? Besides, have you ever tried calling an establishment on Jost and asking really anal questions like this? You always get the same answer. "Yah, man. Sure."

Vicki I don't have an answer for you, maybe if you pm Kellee or Sydney they could call on the radio from Soggy Dollar. I hear that no one uses the phone, just radios and "beep beeps" from their vehicle.

I honestly think it would require wayyyyy too much work for Sydney & crew to work during the day :P :P :P

We enjoyed our evening there as well!!! What a fun place full of good folks!!

Vicki-- I hear you. When I called to reserve a car for our overnight stay on Jost it sounded like I was talking on a string tied between two coconuts. Not that I'm judging... just saying...

So I think I have some sort of transportation booked... could be a car or a donkey or two chickens tied together... who knows?

BTW I have Keith's cell # you want it??

This will not be much help, yet I feel the need to reply anyway. :)
Last summer we were in Little Harbor during the day, twice. Both days we did PYO at Abe's and Sydney's and both days we watched them pull up the lobster cages in the afternoon in prep for dinner that night. So, my guess would be no lobster until later. Then again, this is me we're talking about and it was Jost and we were pouring our own. It could have been 10:00 a.m.

Sidney's Peace & Love is my all time favorite place to go for lobster lunch. They make THE BEST lobster salad! They also serve whole lobster. We stop for lunch frequently & they have always been open for lunch and serve lobster. Sometimes it takes awhile, so radio ahead or buzz by & place your order, or just hang out and make your own drinks and shop in their cute store.

I had a great lobster salad lunch at Sidney's on a boat day. So, since we are on the subject, does anyone know if it is easy to get a taxi there from White Bay (we would arrange ahead) for lunch and how much? I really have no clue how far it is on land.
Going "home" again October 26th!

Brenda, you can get a taxi pretty easy. If you don't see one around ask someone and they will call one for you they all have the taxi drivers cell numbers I beleive. I wouldn't try and walk it but I have seen people do it. It is a pretty steep hill to climb and I am guessing maybe a mile walk . That's a guess.

What good news! I guess I'll just have to come have lunch with you and see for myself, before all the pouring commences.

Thanks very much for the information so far. Scubagirl was headed there last night (just as soon as she could get Kellee off the pole....) and was going to get the skinny for me. Hopefully CAGirl didn't start playing bartender at the "pour your own" and launch her into a rum induced coma, or I may never know a thing. I'll pass along any information I get. I'm sure I'll hear from her once the rum haze wears off....

For anyone else who has a need to know, Scubagirl was kind enough to get me some info while she and the Catamaran Crew were there.

Lunch is served. Menu has everything: burgers, lobster salad, chicken, ribs, fish, fritters, and LOBSTER. Prices from $8 - $35. Lunch drink specials are from 12:00 - 1:30.

Dinner menu covers all the favorites as well, but the lobster is the feature here. Dinner is served with sides served family style: Peas & Rice, Coleslaw, Potato Salad, and Veges or Potato...and I can personally say they are all fantastic. Happy Hour dinner drinks from 5:00 pm - 6:30 pm. Remember, it's a pour your own bar, so if you can pour it, you can keep it! Also, dinner is free for boat captains.

Pig Roast - every Monday and Saturday night. $24.00 pp or all you can eat for $30.00 pp. Time is 7:00 pm sharp.

Barbecue for $24.00 pp or all you can eat for $30.00 pp that includes Ribs, Chicken, and Pig on Sunday, Tuesday, and Thursday nights.

THANKS SCUBAGIRL! You rock.

Hey just cause you can mix it doesn't mean it's drinkable

Hey ScubaGirl sounds like a pretty cool chick. What do you say we go on a sailing trip with her?

Oh wait! we already are!!

We need to add Sidneys Peace and Love to the MUST STOP AT list 8)

Question is will we ever sober up enough to leave?
