Any news about algae bloom

Post by nancyr84 »

I was feeling better about the algae problem until I checked out the ST Thomas forum. Seems that the dive operators are comenting that they have never seen anything like this. Whats a snorkeler to think?

Nancy-- if this is your first trip down and you're traveling soon and you're looking forward to snorkeling you may just want to prepare yourself and know that the bloom will inhibit your visibility underwater.

However, the VI's have so much to offer and there's so much to do.

You'll still enjoy yourself!

We just got back and didn't even know about the bloom until we heard it from our Lion in Da Sun captain when we went out this past Friday. There were a few snorkel places we wanted to go and he mentioned the bloom and suggested some other options. We did visit Waterlemon and the water was very cloudy. We still saw some great stuff, but it was just harder to see. Also got stung by some jellyfish. There seemed to be big "clouds" of jellyfish that you had to be careful of and avoid. Still had an amazing time with our captain Jacob and Lion in Da Sun though!
A mind is like a parachute. It only works when it's open.
