Unfortunately when I lived on St. Thomas I heard a lot of stories about divers doing this kind of stuff. They probably are not going to kill you (of course they could in certain circumstances) but they can be dangerous - if they bite they usually don't let go. But also is just isn't respectful to the animal IMHO.

I agree with Pia,why mess with it.I have some wonderful footage of a nurse shark @ Oppenheimer and I didn't have to mess with him.I just filmed and let him/her do their thing.
{I did ask my wife if she would like to come over and see the shark but she declined!} Parafins
