So, after being the victim of corporate downsizing at the beginning of March I have been fortunate enough to find a new opportunity. I start my new job on Friday. Does this mean that I can't take my planned trip to our favorite island in May? Absolutely not!! It was high on my "must have" list when I negotiated and then accepted my new position!! Not bad, I start mid-April and by late May I am taking a 9-day vacation to paradise. New job and vacation soon come!
That was a QUICK turnaround! I'm happy for your finding a new position so quickly and negotiating your STJ time into the contract. Lotsa time off is at the TOP of my list of must have bennies.
Congratulations, psufan! You have a lot to look forward to and a lot to be thankful for. Good job on negotiating to get your job AND your vacation in. Vacations are one of the reasons we have jobs-to pay for them!!! Enjoy!
Congratulations on the new job! I am so with you on the vacation time. When I had my last review, when my boss asked me what I liked best about my job, I told him the truth: all my vacation time!
It's like looking in your soup and finding a whole different alphabet.
Thanks all for the well wishes. I think our trip to St John will be even more enjoyable knowing that I will not have unemployment hanging over my head. I am truly blessed!
Nancy, hope you and Ed have a wonderful trip once again.
When I got my current job 2 yrs. ago, I also negotiated my trip to STJ. I figured if a potential employer wasn't willing to work my pre-planned vacation in, then he/she wasn't someone I wanted to work for!
Congrats on the new job and wishing you a relaxing vacation to STJ!
Congrats on the new job and vacation to boot good job I hate thinking of loosing my vacation time I can just see me sitting there saying ok ten bucks an hour but I need six weeks paid time off and hey can ya throw in a dozen holiday days while your at it
Glad to hear you got a new job - that is one (of many)good thing about being a teacher - there are lots of built-in vacations -the only bad part is you have to take them when told, but 16 weeks off a year is worth it - enjoy your vacation - samoka
