Your ring should be just fine, we've been using ours for 4 years now. We lubricate the O-Ring between each use, you don't need much. We remove the ring (use a credit card) and wipe it a tissue then put new lubricant on it. The reason we wipe it down is that little bits of sand get stuck to the old lubricant on the ring and you really need to clean that all off and start with fresh lubricant.Pickle wrote:ifloat,
Regarding lubricating, is that what I'm supposed to do? I haven't touched my housing since last June. I used silicone grease nearly every day when I was using the housing but not even once after that. I have left the housing open and stored it in a bag. Hope it's okay.

Jumbie to Denis and back is one of my FAVORITE snorkels. On the Jumbie side of the point, just be careful in among the coral - it can get a little maze like and shallow, so if you're not paying attention you can get a little stuck and have to back track to get back out (depending on tide I imagine). The breather on Denis before turning back is my raison d'etre.
Thanks, Bob & Anita. I'm actually looking forward to seeing the PowerShot D10 (available in May). I won't get it for this upcoming trip but would like to have one at some point (hoping to read a few good reviews before buying it). It would be great to be able to use a Canon underwater without a rather bulky housing.
Chickadee,
Jumbie itself has never been our favorite snorkel, but we haven't snorkeled towards Denis, so we'll try and see. We will be careful with the coral and hug around them instead of trying to take a shortcut towards Denis over them.
Thank you very much everyone for your helpful information.
