Stressed! Says rain all next week!

Post by Itsstraightparadise »

Ok so I am stressed! Says 70% chance rain all next week! Paid for my trip and so stoked to go and now I will have bad weather.....so sad right now. Does the rain typically last all day? It didn't rain at all last time we were there...guess I got lucky.

If you can find me a weather-person that can actually predict the weather correctly that far out, I will give you an all expense paid trip to the island.

I don't even look any more. I wait to wake up on island and see what the sky says for the day.

Don't worry! In three trips of watching Accuweather for weeks before our arrival, I've finally realized that weather in the VI is completely different than probably anywhere in the continental US. You can have completely clear skies move to partly cloudy move to completely overcast move to incredible downpour and back to completely clear in less than an hour - with only 2 min of that time having actual showers. We've learned to not plan our days around weather, because the one guarantee is that it will change...
Hope you have a great vacation!

Actually, the 70% means that on 70% of the times when we have these conditions, it will rain.

In the VI it meeans that there is a 70% chance of ranin and a 50% chance they are right.

Unless you hear the word Hurricane (not likely) or "Tropical Depression" or "Tropical Wave" do not worry.

It rains a little bit just about everyday somewhere in the vicinity. These showers are usually short lived and actualy cool things off when it gets too hot.

Don't stress!

I was all bummed out about rainy forecasts for our March trip, too. But it turned out that there was only one day that it rained a lot and was pretty socked in. We didn't let the rain stop us. We did a sail boat charter with Captain Phil in the rain, and the snorkeling was still really fun.

There's a lot to do even in the rain.

I've learned not to worry about what the weather is going to do while we're there. I can't stress out about something I have no control over...so...stay breezy and have a GREAT trip!

On our last trip we were there during Tropical Storm Chris. It rained all day for 4 of the 7 days we were there. The management company came and took the furniture off the veranda ,we were without electricity for about 24 hours, we literally couldn't leave the villa for about a day, and we still had fun!! You haven't lived until you try to barbeque during a tropical storm!

A tropical storm in STJ beats any day in Chicago IMHO!You'll have a great time, no matter the weather! It's all a state of mind!

Hey, no meteorlogist bashing!!!! We usually know what we are talking about....sometimes

Do not panic....70% means that at any given time there will be precipitation in 70% of the forecasted coverage area. Plus, timing is everything, most of the islands have a quick morning shower and then sun the rest of the day. Everytime I have looked at forecasts there is a mention of rain. You will have a great trip with lots of sun!

If it's a rainy day we stay at the villa, read, and chill as opposed to going to the beach, reading and chilling. Just look outside and you're still in STJ so it's all good. We'll be there on Thurs.
