venting...

Post by mahojim »

I had to kick someone out of the bar, again.
Some big dude with an angry attitude.
Had I not outwitted him, I would've been pulverized. I just wish that more people could realize & remember how we all need to be kind.
I might be getting too old for my job.
I just want to paint ,& make people & their drinks happy!
Yes, I meant to say that...Happy drinks!
Anger/Defensiveness is exhausting from behind a bar when you do it for a living.
Just had a bad night, and I'm not looking forward to the next random time the jerk that I kicked out shows up.
Thanks for the shoulder(s).

Thanks for the input.
I've been behind the stick for some time now at almost 40 years old, but sometimes peoples' ignorance still perplexes me.

Jim sorry to hear about that. Some people at bars are just so obnoxious.

Daughter works at a local bar/restaurant and there was a crowd of people having a really good time, but my eyes were on this one guy, in his 30s, totally wasted.

Bottom line is, he ended up pouring his whole drink over his head and ended up hitting husband (Glenn) with some of it.

Thank God, Timmy the bar tender came right out, basically picked him up off his feet and kicked him out and got him a cab.

I'm thankful Timmy did that because I'd never want the husband to get involved in a fight with a drunk who doesn't even know what he's doing.

You did a good job and it probably won't be the last time that you have to do it.

Annoying drunk people were one of the big reasons that I stopped playing music in bars for a living. I realized that I was becoming one of them...lol!

Kidding aside, I think as you get older your tolerance for stupid drunk people greatly diminishes. It really gets amplified when you have to deal with them every night. I feel for you....

You're all a bunch of buddies, and I thank you for putting up with my momentary lapse of whining...
Anyone who knows me will tell you that it takes a whole hell of a lot to make me angry. It's exhausting, and useless.
As I said before, I just wish some people could find a place to keep a little bit of St. John in them.

Some people just don't know how stupid they are when they drink; I'm sure you did a good job handling it. This forum's a good place to let it out-definitely a stress reliever. :)

Me-I like my drinks happy-very very happy!

I find it increasingly tedious to be around drunks at all. I don't think alcohol brings out the best in anyone and it brings out the absolute worst in some people. There are definitely some people who shouldn't drink. A happy drunk is less dangerous than an angry drunk, but I just don't have the level of patience and tolerance to want to deal with them anymore.

You have my sympathies. Bartending is hard work. You have be so many things ( a sympathizer when sometimes you just don't give a crap, a multi-tasker, etc) and as the evening wears on it gets worse. Many of our friends are in that industry. If you need to flag someone it gets ugly. It's ok to vent. We're here for you...
