Hi everyone, my wife and I have a trip booked for the Gibney Beach cottage later on this year. I was on tripadvisor which only had a few reviews and the latest one was horrible.
Does anyone have anything to help us ease our concerns. Maybe some pictures and not just the 5 on thier website.

I would pm Caribert, or hopefully he will chime in soon. He had a friend stay here recently and included some pictures in his post. He felt it was a nice cottage. If you go up to the search function and type in Gibney Cottage and make sure you click, find all terms, his post will come up. I believe it's the final day that has his pics. I don't know how to provide a link to that post. His pictures look nice though!!

I'm not sure who posted it, but I've only heard great things about the cottage. The photos look great. I guess if it was really rainy the skeeters could be bad. I'd take precautions for that, especially at night. But having that beautiful beach right outside your door could not be too hard to take.
I have found that there is always going to be someone who writes an aweful review of a hotel, villa, restaurant, etc. I always take out the best review and worst and figure the rest are probably pretty accurate.

George, what did the so called tripadvisor say about the Gibney Beach Cottages? Did they talk about the location? Fabulous. The interior? Marvelous. Exterior? Right on the beach. The owner? She takes real good care of her residents.
Fill me in on what was said so i can respond.

Do not be concerned the Beach cottage is really very nice. We stayed there for a week about two years ago.
Its location cannot be beat right on beautiful Gibney Beach a few feet from the waters edge. It is fully air conditioned and the bed we had was perfectly comfortable. Kitchen had everything you might need and Teri Gibney who is the owner is a short walk away if you need anything or run into any problems. My only suggestion is to bring a small flashlight since you do have to walk thru the Orchard (Fruit trees) to get to the cottage from where you park your car.
It is a delightful place.

Thanks for chiming! I looked up the review on tripadvisor and it doesn't say a whole lot except that the pictures on the website were taken years ago. They posted some pics that actually do make the place look run down, but your pictures tell a different story. I'm having a boring day and decided to do the research!

We have stayed many times at both cottages and LOVED it. You really can't get more spoiled then staying there. I loved walking the beach with my coffe in the morning and watch the turtles at 7am. The cottages are on the small size compared to the other 'monster' villas but it is definitely worth it. Terri is a great person and will do everything in her power to make your stay comfortable. I agree that you should bring a flashlight cause it does get dark. You shouldn't be disappointed!
Thanks Nic. I am having some down time here, too. Well desrved I might add. I would stay there at Gibney in a heart beat. That's our favorite beach. It is perfect for one couple!Nic in KC wrote:Bert,

I've always wanted to stay there. I find them about the most perfect situation on the island. But then it comes to money and we start figuring. We could stay at this other place for two weeks for what a week would cost there. We could stay at this other place and the difference would cover the airfare. And the other place would be really great, just not heaven.
So we always put it off for some other time. I think it would be wonderful to stay there, though. I've thought about starting a Gibney cottage fund so that some year it actually will seem like we can afford it.
I think everyone would love the location, but the cottages may not be for everyone. They really are just simple West Indian-style cottages, totally lacking the opulence and grandeur that many visitors seem to expect from rentals. They're from the era before people started building extravagant Mediterranean-style villas. I'd have to think that anyone who was disappointed with the cottages didn't have a clear picture of what they were getting and had unrealistic expectations . There have been times in the past when dealings with Terri have been somewhat problematic for renters, but that seems to be in the past and it seems that all goes smoothly now.
