Rave about Conrad Sutton's

Post by NoWorriesMom »

Recap: we had death in the family, had to cancel everything concerning our St. John trip very last minute, people began offering refunds immediately, we felt obliged to tell them we had trip insurance and could be reimbursed should they need to adhere to their original cancellation agreements with us and:

Carmen, at Conrad Sutton's, today reiterated their decision not to charge us! In a time when we are all baffled by seemingly ubiquitous shady business tactics isn't that a plain kindness!?!

Heartfelt condolences on the passing of your family member.

"Business As Usual" in the VIs is not the same as business as usual up here, that's for sure.

NWM...condolences for your loss. Never an easy thing. As for Carmen and the Suttons...I would expect nothing less. The have always been and continue to be great to deal with...not to mention good friends! For whatever reason...they seem to get a bad wrap from time to time. You've put a smile on my face this morning...thank you for sharing! :D

Thanks, again, for the nutmeg Gladys!

See you in October!

The Suttons are a class act. We have always had such wonderful experiences with them. I got a parting gift one year, too.

If they were not around, I have no idea where we would rent our Jeep! It just wouldn't be the same...

Wow! This is great to hear! I remember awhile back reading some thread titled "Never Again Conrad Sutton". I don't remember who authored it, but after reading that, we had always made a conscious decision NOT to rent from them. That will change, and we will rent from them next time.

Thanks for sharing, and I'm sorry for your loss.

No Worries - so so sorry to hear about your loss. I do appreciate your telling us of your great experience with Conrad Sutton however.

A question for you, or anyone else reading, do they offer parkingat their location in Cruz Bay? I am looking into a rental and usually have rented with St. John Car Rental - but if Conrad Sutton has parking, I may choose to go with them.

TIA

They do offer parking and I have always been able to find a spot. Conrad will even park for you if you are parking challenged (not saying that I am or anything)!

We rented from them on our first trip. We had already made our reservations when the thread "Never again Conrad Sutton" posted..We were nervous and almost cancelled with them but didnt. I found them to be very nice, friendly people and yes they have parking which is a plus...just another reason we have another reservation with them for our trip on friday, In fact I dont think we even looked at another agent when we were planning for this trip.

Sorry for your loss and I am not surprised by the kindness of the Sutton's, we will be using them AGAIN in June.

Just a short story.....I went over the specifics a long time back.

Rented from Conrad Sutton's on three different trips. First two were great. Third one. 4th day I had a flat on the road to my villa above Chocolate Hole (Sea Stone Villa). After a lot of walking and two hours, he came out and apparently in a bad mood changed the tire and told I was going to have to buy a new tire....94 dollars worth. Didn't seem fair to me. (still doesn't).

I turned my car in to him a half hour later (or six days early). He wouldn't take it back until I signed a charge slip for an additional 94.00. Called Amex, related the story, they investigated and gave me back my money.

I am not a young four wheeling kind of guy......just middle aged driving safely on the road. I shouldn't have been charged for routine maintenance on the vehicle.

Got a vehicle from L&L's at the same time I returned the other one....They were very nice and I would recommend them. In fact, when I am there next month, I have already rented from them.

Hampton David, sorry to hear you had a bad experience. I've had a bad experience with another car rental outfit that others seem to love. When we are back, we will write here about our experience renting from Conrad Sutton's.
