AA did it again - Check those flights - Beware
Well AA did it again. We had a flight scheduled this morning 7:20am from Detroit to STT. Flight delayed, and delayed and then cancelled. AA would do nothing for us, told us we got bumped to tomorrows 7:20am flight. No credits, No nothing. Not a good start to our trip. Need that Beach Bar Beer !!! Maybe tomorrow. Hope to see a few of you the next 2 Sundays. Will be the family of 4, with 2 blond girls.
Check those flights before you leave for the airport, and if you get delayed and rebooked keep demanding that you get a seat assignment on the next flight. Took us 6 phone calls to actually get somebody who would actually help...

Good advice.....that just sucks! I always fly AA to STJ and I'm glad I have a 3 hr. layover in Miami because I usually need it because of their departure rate. I don't think they have enough planes in their fleet. It seems half the time I fly, I have to wait for another plane to be flown in from some far off place.
I hope you get there soon and have a wonderful trip.

Delta cancelled our flight - no notification
Thanks for posting this. Just for kicks I checked on our June Delta flight out of JFK. It was a direct flight to STT. Well, Delta no longer offers that flight. They rebooked us on a new flight that has us changing planes in Atlanta. They never notified us.
We were driving up to JFK to get the direct flight for half the price of flying out of Philly. So they were nice enough to rebook us leaving out of Philly and connecting in Atlanta. In the end, we're happy!
So I suggest you keep an eye on your flights, regardless of what airline you are flying.

Yes, grrrr tell me about it. I checked the timetable and the AA nonstop flight from JFK is only operating day 7 the first three weeks in November but after that it will operate day 4567. What a bummer. I just got rebooked on earlier flights through SJU and will now arrive at 1.37pm instead of 6pm. Hope to see you girls also on these flights Ali.b-as-u-r wrote:Our direct flight from JFK (at the end of Oct) just got changed to a layover in San Juan with an arrival time of almost 6:00 p.m. from being just before noon. We are not happy campers!! Ali~
This has gotten worse in recent years. AA recently changed our flights too, trying to get us to overnight at JFK- nothankyouverymuch. They did however e-mail us.
Kids-- just make sure that you provide your e-mail address to the airlines so they CAN notify you. Of course this is still not a sure thing so I periodically check the flight info monthly just to be sure we're still on track.
As for not offering any compensation -- I'm not so sure about that... you've lost a nights vacation that you paid for due to the airline's cancellation. Seriously, (As long as the delay was not weather related) I would contact the airline and see what they can do to compensate you-- whether it's an upgrade or vouchers -- their failure to adhere to the contract of carriage resulted in a financial loss and you shouldn't bear the cost burden for that.
Further, if they couldn't get you to your destination that day they should have tried to rebook you on an airline that could. Don't take no for an answer.
What a PITA!!
