Joshie – is that You?
The day was planned so that we could make this week’s gathering at the Beach Bar. We decided on Trunk Bay. I’d been dreaming of sitting on that beach with a cheeseburger and a pina colada (calories be damned).
The group was even slower to get moving that day. I don’t think we made it to the beach until 12:00. It was worth the wait.

I love this beach.

The Island looks so green for March

I began my search for Joshie. “Joshie, is that you” I called while walking down the beach and staring at bronze men from the waist down. I thought I knew what Joshie’s legs looked like but alas, upon further inspection of his picture with the Senator, I realized that they were Photoshopped and Bronzed and that didn’t leave me much to work with. So I continued combing the beach for some cool guy with a camera and a wicked wit.
I didn’t find him. Though the lifeguards were cute.
We planned on a few hours of lazing. Much to my dismay, they were not serving frozen drinks that day. The cheeseburger didn’t taste quite as good. I think there’s a cause effect relationship there.
The male child and I did a quick snorkel but he’d forgotten his wetsuit and he was cold.
He decided to build /dig some more on the beach. His father helped.

We left the beach at 3:30 – a record for us – so that we could go home and shower for an evening out.
But first a quick stop on the way back to Luna Vista. Nothing says “I’m on vacation” like a $24 smoothie.

I think we paid to park in Cruz Bay this evening. The beach was crowded! I had no idea who was going to be there – except for Ruth.
St John Ruth – She’s not just spicy, she’s sweet (and saucy) too.
What a lovely person Ruth is. We chatted for a bit – I was drinking wine from a glass (or at least a plastic cup) and the place was packed.
I knew that Hoosierdaddy and crew were on island but after the Joshie experience I wasn’t sure I was up to walking up and down Cruz Bay Beach calling “Who’s Your Daddy”. We had a child with us afterall.
Surprise! I DO like Fennel.
We stayed until 7:00 or so and then had dinner at Cafe Roma. We ran into JC and her gang of 125. We ate at the bar and loved our meal so much that we got take out from them the following night.
I had a simple pasta with meatballs. Scott had a pasta with seafood, Mr H had something yummy and the Remora had lasagna which was fantastic. I asked them what their secret ingredient was and they told me “a touch of fennel”. It appears that I enjoy a touch of fennel, but abhor a lot of anise.
A very enjoyable time talking with the bartender, and home to LV.
Rainy Days are Mondays
It was Monday again. And Cool. And Rainy. We decided we really wanted to see a Spotted Eagle Ray. Jan told us she had luck finding them off of the Yawzi Point Trail.
It was cool, breezy and cloudy, so the visibility wasn’t great. however the snorekling was really interesting! There are steep large rocks, and coral heads that provide a wonderful underwater landscape.
We saw Jewel Damselfish –
<a href="http://picasaweb.google.com/lh/photo/YZ ... site"><img src="http://lh3.ggpht.com/_Bb-_xJSB7Cg/SdqmM ... 1.jpg"></a>
A very large Southern Ray
<a href="http://picasaweb.google.com/lh/photo/hF ... site"><img src="http://lh3.ggpht.com/_Bb-_xJSB7Cg/Sdqnv ... 7.jpg"></a>
A Queen Anglefish (Little H played around with the colors in Picasa)
<a href="http://picasaweb.google.com/lh/photo/bP ... site"><img src="http://lh3.ggpht.com/_Bb-_xJSB7Cg/SdqnR ... 5.jpg"></a>
and, as if on cue, our first Spotted Eagle Ray
<a href="http://picasaweb.google.com/lh/photo/Jy ... site"><img src="http://lh4.ggpht.com/_Bb-_xJSB7Cg/Sdqom ... 1.jpg"></a>
It was a great end to a great snorkel.
It started raining pretty heavily on the way back to the car. It didn’t look like there was any chance of it clearing, so we left Little Lameshure (where we’d parked the Jeep) and went off in search of food.
For the second time in a week, we were at the Tourist Trap on a Monday, and it was closed.
Another lunch at Shipwreck and then off to Cruz Bay to pick up a few groceries from Dolphin Market and take out from Cafe Roma. The remora can’t get enough of their lasagna.
