We stayed at Sol Inclination last May. We loved the villa. Everything is top of the line and very comfortable. During the day, the breeze makes it very comfortable to be outside....no mosquitos! After the sun went down, it was too cold to be in the pool, but I've found that at other villas without the breeze. We had the Master bedroom with outdoor shower and used it every day, sometimes it was windy and did blow the water, but we really didn't mind. It's nice to sit up on the balcony at night and have the strong breeze blowing. It never bothered us at all, but if you are opposed to it, I wouldn't choose Sol. We used the hot tub at night just fine.

Turning around in the driveway was the only thing I didn't care for. We had three cars so my car always parked at the bottom and walked up since there was only room for two cars at the top. Otherwise, it's a great villa with amazing view. If you have any specific questions, please feel free to let me know. I think if you do a search on this forum, you'll probably find my trip report and pictures.

We stayed there in June of 2008. It was very breezy. Some nights we couldn't shower in the outside shower because the wind would completely blow the water away. There were a couple nights we didn't sleep well because the wind was blowing so hard.

It's a great place, by far the nicest we've ever stayed on STJ, but it was a bit too out of the way for us...it's not close to Cruz Bay, Coral Bay, or the beaches, so you have a drive if you want to go anywhere. We usually stay in Chocolate Hole, so round trip Sol Inclination added about 30 minutes of driving...it got a little old after 10 days.

We only had one car and it was hard enough so I don't know how Nic did it with three! It is the hardest driveway we've ever dealt with too, but it was worth it for those views.

It is probably nicer in person than the pictures show.

We stayed at Sol Inclination in June of '08. We loved it. It was a little windy to use the outside shower one night, but there is also a clawfoot tub in that bathroom.

We had 3 jeeps and parked them all up at the house. Had a couple of hair-raising moments when our son and daughter-in-law were parking in the outside slot and the jeep suddenly tilted. Because of the drive (and cost of eating out) we tried not to go anywhere after dark. The kitchen was excellent so we ate at the villa every night. None of the eight of us even got a mosquito bite.

It was our first villa stay, so I don't have any comparisons. We are not into night life anyway. We played games, looked at the stars, soaked in the hot tub, read books and used our laptops. The grandkids (18 and 12 yrs old) didn't want to leave.

We booked SI in Oct of 2007. It is one of the most spectacular villas on the rock. The view east is uninterupted green hills, sky and ocean. Yes, the wind kicks up a bit. There is a protected terrace outside the lower house for lounging, reading, and sipping beverages. The price of seclusion is a 20 min drive - oh yeah, get a jeep. If you want quick beach access then look into Mystic Ridge.

Our group will be there next month (in one month and nine days to be exact!). We will only have one vehicle - a four door Jeep Wrangler. Any pointers on the best way to navigate the driveway?

Thanks.

Drive up the last 100 yards with authority - keep your speed and don't hesitate. Pull into the parking area in front of the steps. It's the only level parking space. This allows you to back out on the uphill side and drive safely down the hill. Driving up and backing into the parking space can lead to problems...you can't see what you're doing.

There is one swithchback on the way up Cocoloba that requires some backing and filling because it's such a sharp corner. But after 3-4 tries you should be able to make it on a single pass.

Get the new Trail Bandit map. At a corner with orange barricades is an old trail/road up to the Seiben ruins (#20 on the 2006 map). Go in by the old broken black cistern. Excellent hike close to the villa.

Stayed for 10 days in November 2007 and absolutely loved the place. Everything was first rate. We were 3 couples and DH and I stayed in the blue bedroom in the guest house. This was our choice as we were both still smokers at the time.
The view from both the upper and lower houses were awesome. I preferred to sit out on the lower house bedroom balcony as the view was straight out onto the green hills and the sea. The 2 couples who stayed in the main house wdidnt spend much time on thier respective porches as there were no window coverings on the windows and they were concerned about compromising each other;s privacy.
We had Nomadic Spa come in and do massages on the upper balconyand it was beautiful. Didnt find the wind to be a troubling factor. I personally spent a lot of time outside due to my smoking and dont recall it being too chilly or too breezy. What I did recall was that it was such a shame for the 2 main house couples to have the house closed up and the A/C running all the time, which obviously negated some of the most dynamic views in the Caribbean. One night there were 6 cuise ships lined up below us on the pamorama of south shore, both coming and going through STT. It is a picture that I will keep in my mind's eye forever.
Great villa.

That's how we did it :)

Are you talking about the same road that goes to Sol Inclination?

We never made it at one spot without having to back up at least once. There are plenty of marks on the side of the hill from people who tried and failed as a warning :)

We didn't have too much trouble learning to negotiate that sharp turn. My husband and I parked our jeep behind the villa-the space is on a sharp incline but our brakes held.

When we all left, we would leave last and back down onto the double wide parking pad by the steps to turn around.

Our sons each pulled their jeeps straight in and backed up the hill to leave. I agree with Chet-you need to make sure you are in 4 wheel drive, and drive with confidence. The jeeps will pull the last distance from South Shore Villa, but you can't be timid.

AND-try not to drive it when the pavement is wet!
