Wow you grew up on Mercury Blvd in Hampton. I was born in Hampton VA. My father was stationed at Langley.

Anway, you must then know about Das Weiner works... Chili cheese with mustard and onion. Its gone now but was a pillar of my childhood. Even after we moved over an hour away we'd still make treks now and then just for hot dogs!

Hey Flip Flop...Yes, grew up in Newport News, actually. I'll tell you how old I am, I went to Newport News H.S., and it's been closed since, what, 1971? Yow.

Oh yes, I remember those hot dogs, all right. I remember going to Buckroe, did you do that? Now when I go back to that area, it seems flat and all paved and ugly. I can't say that I'd really like to live there now.

Is that the hotdog place that had a really steep roof line? Like an 'A' roof?
We went to Buckroe beach when I was a young kid, in the late 60's. Am I aging myself? I had an aunt and uncle that lived in that area that we would visit often.

We moved away when I was pretty little - about 4. If we had stayed I would have gone to Bethel HS.

Yes, it was an A-frame with the drive through in the middle.

I do remember Buckroe and Bluebird Gap Farm, which I think is still there. My mom said we would drive near there when I was little and I'd start begging to "shase the shickens" apparently they had chickens that I liked to chase but I wasn't so good with the "ch" sound yet.

I haven't been back in ages!! We drive by on our way to VA Beach but that's about the extent of it.
