Connection times in SJU
We have a connection on our way home, STT > SJU > ORD. I just noticed that the connection time in SJU is about 55 minutes. I've never been in the SJU airport, so I don't know if it's crazy or not. (Our return flight will be the Saturday after New Years Eve, so I'm expecting it to be busier than normal.)
What do you think about that tight connection? Does this guarantee the need to go carry on? BTW all flights are on United.
At this point, we're far out enough that this is more out of curiosity than a burning need to call the airline (because they might muck around with the schedule between now and then)... but I thought I'd ask the experts!

I fly on American through SJU and 55 minutes would not be a problem in the American terminal. I don't fly United so I'm not sure how close their gates are together but SJU is not that big of an airport so I think you're fine. The only way you'd have a problem is if your flight out of STT would be delayed.
Hey, Chicagoans. As a fellow Chicagoan who is STJ bound in June, I would suggest that you keep a close eye on your flights. Ours have been changed 5 times since we booked in December. We are also flying United.
We now have to fly through D.C. both ways. In fact, we are now flying into D.C. a day early because we only had a 40 min. connection time and if we missed that, there were no other flights to STT that day. We also have the short connection time in SJU on the way home. I'm not sure if we are changing planes, though. In the past we stopped but didn't have to change planes. We are leaving STJ at 2:50 and don't arrive to ORD until 11:15. UGH! Is your flight down non-stop? Ours was when we booked it, but that was the first change they made.
Good luck!

Thanks all! Sometimes I need to remind myself that not all airports are like O'Hare. (Thank goodness, right?)
mcdomzal: so far no changes other than flight numbers; time etc. is the same. But I'm checking on a regular basis. We're non-stop on the way down. I'd be really bummed if that changed... We are leaving the day after Christmas, so we wouldn't want to leave a day early if they mucked it up.
June will be here soon... have fun!
