Question about Twilight series
I have the first book in the series. My question is - should I wait for six weeks and read the first one while I am in St. John?
But what if you finish it and really like it? You won't be able to read the second one until you get home.
John and I watched the movie last night. If I was a teenager I would have a major crush on the actor that plays Edward. I love his floppy hair!

It's like looking in your soup and finding a whole different alphabet.
I am currently a few chapters into book 3. The first book was painfully slow to get rolling for me (I read it because Gromit threatened my life if I didn't).
That said, 3 is much better than 1 or 2 so far. 1 was my least fav. 2 is kind of depressing but it moved quickly. If you read the author's site you realize she basically was not a writer at all and wrote chapter 13 before the rest of Book 1. I think that's why the beginning of Book 1 is rough. Once she got on a roll though she rolled.
Fantasy/Vampire type stuff is not at all up my alley, but I will say I am enjoying the series. I'd get started and then take book 2 or 3 w/ you on the trip. I was reading Book 1 while in Vancouver and that was a great setting for it. I typically take more beachy books to STJ. Though I read the Monster of Florence last year while there and it kind of creeped me out!

I love fantasy/horror/sci fi books, but I really struggled with book 1. Took me a bit to finish it just because it didn't "grab" me. 2&3 were better and I thought 4 was the best. The books are definitely aimed at a more youthful audience than myself (45), so all the teen angst just had me groaning. Depends on how fast you read really-they're big books to be packing

That's a tough one. From what most people have said about the books, you either love them or could have done without. I made the mistake of reading the first one, without having the second one waiting in the wings. I nearly lost my mind waiting for the rest of them to be delivered. I read all four in 6 days.
I would buy the second one, but start reading the first one now. The first one is kind of slow at the start, but really picks up. You might enjoy the second book more on vacation.
