Water Level

Post by Boston Mike »

Is it me or does the water level seem a bit low in Cruz Bay this morning?

While our tides aren't terribly noticeable to most, we do have them. There is considerable seasonal difference, with the lowest low tides occurring in the spring, and the highest high tides occurring in the fall. We have been having some very exposed areas the past couple of weeks.

Other factors are that the moon is almost at perigee (closest to the earth in it's orbit), but not full, so no spring(not the season) tide, therefore, high tide is not as high as is usually is, but not quite neap tide.
