The only question I read was about flying time not total travel time - seems that there is something a little "snippy" going on here - I hope not so I'm hoping it's just me reading more into this after a long travel day home yesterday

AAA says 177 miles and 2hrs 45 mins Blacksburg to CLT
I have done the drive and am familiar with the routes...probably have not done it in 2 hours, but...a faster driver with light traffic between Lake Norman and CLT probably could slide in there in about 2 hours...just my two cents...

Wow, who knew this would illicit this kind of response? I am just sick of the changes AA made forcing the Dulles flight through Miami instead of San Juan. The Miami airport is wretched.
Why Dulles has so few direct flights is beyond me. Could fly USAir but they never seem to have the best schedule and price. I was hoping Jorge knew of a Richmond flight or some other secret.

We are in the same boat! Can never find a good flight, we have been through San Juan, which is not that bad,at least for us, have heard other stories on here where people hate it.Atlanta was the worst, running through the airport and almost missing the connecting flight. I like flying through Charlotte if we can get a good deal. Last time we had to fly through Miami on the way home, and it was hike through the airport to get to the next flight.
I think there is one direct flight on Saturdays out of Dulles. Rick G has mentioned it before not sure of which airline though but I don't think there is direct flight back though.
If you find a good flight out of Richmond let me know, it might be worth the drive for us.

United has direct out of Dulles to STT. Meanwhile, USAir is $288 round trip (including taxes) for May -- one stop each way. I don't think it gets any lower than that for the DC area!

Very sorry if I offended...My comment about
SC was only intended to be light hearted and a
inter-active part of the forum. Virginia is a
very beautiful and fine state as well as
is SC. I must have failed at the humor part
and will restrain myself in future post. Guess
I need to just stick to fact finding inquiries.

I was simply pointing out that a direct flight from Charlotte, NC is a different animal than a nonstop from VA. /story

I wasn't trying to be mean either. I was just half laughing to myself because us folks in Charlotte have a big chip on our shoulder because we think no one knows where we are. (Like even what state) "We" are obsessed with being a "first class city".

So it was sort of a joke that we aren't in Virginia-even though I know Jorge knows we aren't...
