Anguilla Resources?
It looks like the Anguilla version of the VIOL hasn't had much if any activity. Does anyone know of any other reources to learn about the island? I felt like I knew STJ incredibly well before my first trip due to this forum. Would love to find something similar to this for Anguilla. I'm due to move there soon...
Thanks for any and all input!

We were looking into it a while ago. TA was the best resource that we found:

I had in mind that I'd love to get there some year for Bankie Banx's Moonsplash.

Ondine I would love for you to post a question over there though - it use to be very busy, and I know people still read it from time to time. We have a very good dining section over there too. Are you moving there for a job?
I will send a couple of my competitors sites to you (have to look them up) - there are some busy forums - and there is a good blogger also.

Hi there!
My husband and I vacationed in Anguilla last June - absolutely loved it!!! Let me know if you have any questions, I'll try to help as best I can.
We stayed at the Allamanda Hotel, which is on one end of Shoal Bay. Gwen's Reggae Bar was on the beach in front of our hotel. If you walked up the beach and around the point, there were several hotels (Ku, Serenity Villas) and restaurants/bars (Uncle Ernies, Elodias, etc)....but Shoal Bay is absolutely beautiful. White sand, and water in shades of blue that we've never seen before, despite many trips to the caribbean.
Food on the island was great. Zara's (conincidentally was at our hotel) was probably the best food we had all trip. Splurged at Straw Hat one night...food was good, ambience better. But I hear they've moved to a different location now. Gwen's has hands down the best grouper sandwich/pasta salad/rum punch on the island!
As for resources, we used the tripadvisor Anguilla forum quite a bit. We also found a couple other sites...I can't remember the addresses, but one family has a great site w/ restaurant reviews. Maybe google "anguilla restaurant reviews" or something like that.
Best of luck in the trip planning!

Thx so much for the additional info. I'm moving there for a job and have worked with my colleagues located there for some time, so I know they'll show me lots of the ropes there. But, I like to do my own research as well, and would like to have some knowledge base before I arrive...
Anthony I would welcome anything you would like to send along to me and I'd be glad to post, I'm assuming you mean the "caribbean online forum" for anguilla, is that right? I would be glad to try my best to get some activity going on anything your involved with, I've certainly been very appreciative of the STJ forum.

As far as life on the island, this guy has been running a gadfly/whistle blower type blog tirelessly for a while:
http://corruptionfreeanguilla.blogspot.com/
I do have some news here
http://www.caribbean-on-line.com/travel-news/anguilla/
but a lot of it is press releases and such -
Say hi to the guys here http://savannahgallery.com/ from Anthony at Caribbean-On-Line
We also have a ton of dining reviews http://www.caribbean-on-line.com/diningreviews/ag/ but alas they have died off of late (as has the maintenance of that page... ouch!).

Ondine- Go to anguilla guide forum.com. You can do a google search to get there. That site is very informative and also has a section regarding moving to Anguilla. I am so jealous of you-we have been to Anguilla three times now and totally love it!!
Very different from St. John but equally as nice in it's own special way-
People are very helpful on that site-just like here.
Good Luck.

Thanks everyone for the valuable input. And, certainly Anthony, your links will prove very informative, boy that blog will provide for some of the local colorful stories!
I'll be sure to make an effort to visit that gallery as well, their villa looks nice, too. I'll try to add to the somewhat dormant forums there, if I can.
I love STJ so much, that this island will have to win me over somehow...it looks like it can with its beauty.
Thanks guys, this is very helpful and much appreciated.
