On our way...first trip to St. John

Post by Linward »

We're sitting in the lobby of our motel in Portland Oregon waiting for the shuttle to take us to the airport. We are going to overnight in DFW then catch a VERY early flight to STT via Miami. Will arrive on St. John on Saturday. Thanks to all who have helped us in our planning and dreaming about this trip; we will reciprocate with a trip report when we return April 8th. To all fellow adventurers, we salute you!!!

Sounds like a very long trip, but in the end you'll love St. John, especially coming from where you are. Warm weather, sandy beaches, etc., etc. Enjoy!

I was just wondering: It seems Northeast (and Central US) folks would come to VI and West Coast would go to Hawaii. Can I ask what made you come to these islands(btw, not that NE people don't go to Hawaii)?

mickyb - We have already been to Hawaii, and Kauai is nice, but we like to experience different places. We have also been to two of the Bahama family islands where we found the locals extremely friendly and courteous. And, we are finding that here on St. John. The people living on the Carribean islands are just plain happy! :D

Linward,

If you like BBQ eat at Joes. We loved it so much we ate there twice last week. Joe's is located in Cruz Bay across from the post office. The odd thing is there is no sign. Once you get close you can smell it.
