Just made it again - Incidents both ways!

Post by seagrape »

So, we wrote about our semi-scary arrival on STT a number of weeks back. Yesterday we were flying back to Alaska. Everything went well. Then we woke up this morning to find that Mt. Redoubt finally erupted! It has been rumbling for months. It blew up over 9000 ft., closing Anchorage Int'l Airport. All flights from Seattle were cancelled, and a few were diverted back to Seattle. Guess we just made it...however, we were hoping this happened while we were STILL IN ST. JOHN!!! Everyone could use a little more vaca time.

We got lots done, had lots of fun and will do a trip report by this weekend...

All the best to you,

Oh my gosh, that's scary! Glad you made it back safely, nature's fury is even more unyielding than the stoopid airlines.

Glad you made it back in time! (Although some extra time on STJ wouldn't be so bad, either!) Can you see the mountain from where you live? (I know you can see Russia, Sarah Palin said so!)

Thanks for the sentiments. Not only can we see Mt. Redoubt from our house, but we can also see Russia. Occasionally we get glimpses of the elves at Santa's workshop at the North Pole, however, it has to be a really clear day! The most common sighting would be seeing Sarah Palin at the local Walmart shoppe!
