HELP.....Professional Dog Trainer :)

Post by Pia »

OK, OK, before I get "jumped" on again (all of you from the old forum know what I mean if you remember that thread  ) I am asking for your help....as you all know, we do not have all the options in many area's of living that are available Stateside here on STJ thus my request for help :)

I remember reading on this forum, that one or even two of our regular posters is/are dog trainers in the States and was wondering if you could either PM me, or if you can let me know if we could do a "phone consulation" or even when you will be here next (on STJ) and how I can hire you while you are here or even pay for a few "extra" days (within reason - maybe you could stay with me :) ) so you could help us with the puppies.

Thanks in advance everyone and Jorge....I know you are not a dog trainer so don't even go there

Luv you all

Pia

Pia,
There's a great new book called My Smart Puppy....it may help until you find a living, breathing trainer. :) ....mia

Pia- I'll PM you with a great book I used to train both my dogs as well as my parent's dogs and several friends. I'm sort of new around here but not new to the dog world. If we can't find the book for you to order, I'll either send you my copy or bring it to you when I'm down there.

(Off topic: Thanks for all your advice on the boards- I don't know what I would have done without it!)

Hey Pia:

My hubby is a certified dog trainer. He currently runs a dog daycare, boarding and training business from our house.

PM me with your email address and specifics as to what type of training you are looking for: basic obedience, manners, etc.

Although we'd LOVE to come down there solely for the purpose of traning your little doggies (hubby's dream job would be dog training on STJ), that's not possible right now :).

But, he'll do his best to help you over email or phone, I'm sure, with tips and tricks and such.

What kind of dogs do you have? Are you the person who got two sheep dogs (border collie-ish)? For some reason, I remember seeing a picture of a woman with two sheep dog puppies.

We currently have a Rottie (still around & having chemo treatmens- thanks to all the forum prayers), a Yorkie and a Westie.

LysaC,
I don't post here often but I am interested in becoming a dog trainer. My husband and I have been in the pet sitting business for 3 years now but I feel I need to expand my knowledge in order to be current. Could you pm me. I would like to discuss what steps to take.
Thanks,
Amy

PS Good thoughts to your dog :)
