I'm in the same boat Ioria. I'm not naturally gifted in the kitchen but I love good food....especially when it is prepared by someone else! I come and lurk on this thread to admire the skills of these wonderful cooks and seek inspiration.

Just wanted to share this...I do grill alot...all winter long. One thing that never fails me is the Cruz Bay Grill Rub...even when I mess up the recipe. The recipe for the marinade on the package calls for soy sauce, fresh lime and olive oil and it's very tasty. The other day I picked up some boneless chicken breasts and had about five minutes to run home, get them in the marinade then run back out to pick up the ute and so on. I thought I had lime and soy...but no. I did have some teriyaki sauce and so used that instead with a big spoonful of CBGR, olive oil and a squeeze of lemon. In less than 5 minutes it was back in the fridge marinating. 4 hours later it was sizzling on the grill and was really great with a big salad. Juicy and a little sweet. The guys loved it....I don't let them read this thread lest they get notions.

I know I've posted this before, but it never gets old. I tried a new stuffing from Recipes from a Very Small Island (Linda & Martha Greenlaw).

Here is dinner the other night. Summer rolls (I made enough to eat leftovers for lunch all week!)

Satay with peanut sauce, coconut rice, and bok choy. These are beef satay--I made chicken ones also.

I think I've been through most of these food porn pages and I did a search of the forum but I don't recall seeing this. After watching the Top Chef semi-finals in NO last night I'm dying to try to make an Oyster Stew...or better, an Oyster Bisque. Carla's version won her a car last night. I have no such high hopes but her's sure did look scrumptious. She mentioned that it had some Old Bay Spice which, having lived on the Chesapeake at one time is dear to my heart. Also she had some crispy bits of bacon sprinkled on top.

Do any of you great cooks have a fail proof recipe for something similar? Carla's recipe will be up on line eventually, I just don't know when and thought I'd take a stab at it this week-end.

Gumbo tonight in honor of Mardi Gras. I just kinda winged it and it came out great. The masks were a craft project with my 9 year old weekend guest Sofia. By the way she was in charge of the roux!

John got home from a business trip last night, and here is what I made him. Rare seared fliet with truffle oil and balsamic mushrooms, baked orichette with a cheddar-fontina-parmesean sauce, and ceasar salad:

Tonight's dinner - stuffed pork chops, mashed potatoes and sprouts. Kind of boring, but delicious, and I hadn't posted in a while :)

we were in the North End yesterday afternoon (great lunch at Neptune Oyster) and picked up a few things for a light supper... antipasto, cauliflower and pine nuts, roasted peppers, rosemary ham, stuffed cherry peppers, a sausage... there was also cheese and bread

Maryanne, where did you shop for the antipasto? It looks really good. I usually go to Salumeria Italiana. I need to get down to the North End, I am out of balsamic vinegar.
