Kiss of the Jumbie Adult Beverage ;)

Post by mbw1024 »

This morning as I was cleaning up the kitchen I grabbed the coffee pot and thought, that's an awful lot of KOJ to waste, so I poured it in to a container not sure what I would do with it. Introducing the KOJ Martini... woo hoo... not bad as I watch the snow start to fall!

Start with your favorite shaker
Add
2 oz. Cruzan Vanilla
2 oz. brewed KOJ coffee
1 oz. Coffee Liquor
(I used something we bought in Costa Rica but Kahlua would be great)
1 oz. Godiva Chocolate Liquer
Splash of cream

Add ice to the shaker and give it about 10 shakes.

Put a few mini chocolate chips at the bottom of your hand painted Martini glass from STJ Spice, strain in to glass and ENJOY!

It sounds good...and it certainly is a creative use of left over coffee.

Okay, one pet peeve...and this is not directed at you, but at popular culture in general. Putting a mixed drink into a martini glass does not make it a martini. A martini is gin and vermouth...some will say you can use vodka, but even that is pushing it. The only place one can exercise any creativity is regarding how much vermouth and the garnish...lemon zest, onion or olive...and, please, no stupid olives...like blue cheese stuffed, or whatever. Oh wait, "shaken or stirred" is another area open to personal preference.

Sorry for that digression. What were we talking about?

yeah well...... lets just call it a new world martini. got a better name for it? names don't get me in a whirl wind - it is only what is in the glass that matters to me.

to each his own as they say

That sounds delicious!
I have been sitting here thinking about what cocktail to make. Unfortunately I don't have all of those ingredients. I'll think of something with rum. :)

Don't take offense...the drink sounds pretty darn good...and it looks good in the martini glass. I didn't mean any harm.

For those of us who like martinis, it's almost like a ritual. Remember that scene in "When Harry Met Sally" in the diner...no not that part...when she orders, but has to make sure that everything is just so? It's almost like that with martinis. The bartender asks, " what would you like?" I respond, "a martini...but wait, it needs to be Beefeater, straight up, dry, extra olives and shaken so hard that your hands stick to the shaker." Okay, maybe I'm odd...I'm willing to admit that.

no offense taken at all. my father was a Beefeater man and I totally understand the ritual but I for one don't have a better name for it!
I can get picky about my wine and the glass it is in. Call it what you want just don't call it White Zinfandel ;)

Yea, I think that they have over used the word "martini" also. I think it is a way for bars to make a better profit. Charge $8.00 for a 2 oz mixed drink in a fancy glass.
My favorite is the key lime "martini".

I don't have all the ingredients either sea-nile. I kept it really simple, Cruzan Dark and Diet Coke.

Marybeth ... we need to have a girls-forum week in St John, rent the most fabulous house in SJ and each take turns being bartender for the day! How many forum gals can we fit into a house? Ruth and Pia can be our Den Mum's and keep us out of trouble/jail! 8)

Can't wait to mix up a shaker of your new drink

Hey Pete... It sounds like you could use a KOJ Martini

That drink sounds pretty good, Mary Beth! I don't have all those ingredients, either, but there's some Painkiller ingredients left over from last night!
