Buff Headwear, Does anyone wear these?

Ok, I feel as though I live in the middle of no where so I don't always feel stylish...but my friend went to Belize and wore this Buff headand/tube thing on her head for sun/bad hair day protection. She's brought it to me yesterday. You can wear it 12 different ways. It is growing on me. Has anyone heard of these or wear these? Wontongirl told me she saw them on survivor. I took pictures of my husband modeling it (he's such a sport---it looks as though men wear them, too. But this one is a girly kind of print)Don't know how to post pictures so here is a link.

never heard of them but they are cute. I'm always worried about my head burning and frankly I just don't care what I look like in the process of trying to protect myself!

Marybeth,I thought I was the only one who hadn't heard or seen it. Anyway, I just ordered 5 coolmax UV protection ones including a junior size for my 14-month old. She's not going with us in May, but we spend a lot of time out here in the Ozarks. She doesn't have much hair yet so I worry about too much sun on her head. Got the pink camo buff for her. Think I'll give wontongirl one, too. Don't tell her. May have to give the one back to my friend. I have it on right now just as a headband. My friend that lent me this one purchased hers at sahalie.com. I'm sure no one else does this, but I have a little help with my hair color and I think this tube thing will help preserve the color.

Now that's funny! I was reading the first couple of posts about Buffs and i was thinking the same thing. At the Scuba show that we went to a couple of weeks ago there were several booths selling do-rags for scuba. Here's one place...

At the time I thought it was abit silly, but the other day my daughter reminded me that I have a large patch of exposed skin on the back of my head. Maybe something to cover that up when I'm snorkeling isn't a bad idea!

They do look like doo rags, if you wear it a certain way, but they are seamless tubes. 17" long x 9" wide. Really stretchy microfiber material but look cottony.

Well if Jorge wears one... even so, I'm not a fan.

I put a wide brimmed hat on my burnable youngest. St. John is about the only place I wear a based ball cap. It seems to keep the sun down. But, I get my hair cut short before we go on a visit. Works for me.

What a great idea for someone snorkeling - especially a man with thinning hair!!!!!!

Anyone know if they stay-put while snorkeling?

Geesh! someone is getting rich for inventing a tube of material to stretch over your head. Now why can't I invent something so simple to get rich on??

Actually, after further research, I think a Speedo swim cap may be better for a snorkler (for sun protection) than the Buff thing as it is more streamlined & less to deal with: you simply put it on your head- rather than dealing with ties, twisting, etc. (did you see their video)... plus, the Buff thing does not seem like it will stay put very well when wet - it's quite a bit of material and getting wet will make it swirl around & create drag. The Scuba DoRag looks to be a little more streamlined - but it also has little tails that look like when they get wet, may be a pain. Plus, I'm not loving the pirate-urban-biker-dude look for my husband. No, I think a lycra or silicon swim cap is the ticket to protect the thinning haired-head of my husband.

Jorge, you hide your Fabio locks well. You don't want to be damaging your ends either!
I will volunteer to test my Buff in water when I get there in May. It is a thin fabric and I think it will do surprising well. Just my hunch. Thanks for all the input!

I think they look pretty useful. Sometimes I wrap a bandana around my head when I think my scalp is getting too much sun. The trick is to get it wet then knot it quite hard--it will stay on while snorkeling. This looks easier though.

I already look like a dork with John's giant t-shirts over my bathing suit, so this won't make any difference in my beach appeal. I'd rather be covered than burned.

My long distance runner friend wears them all the time. She runs 40+ miles/week -- in the winter! -- has short punky hair and the buffs look great on her. (I have long hair and I haven't figured out how to make the buffs look as cool on me.) I told her I want a buff just like hers... but the truth is I want a butt just like hers.
