iphone blog march 4

Post by gymnastika »

It started off with getting a jeep rental in St. Thomas this time versus St. John. Off to Cost-u-less and then off to the car barge. I’ve never done the car barge before, so this was interesting. What are all these people doing backing their cars to wait for the barge?? I asked the nice guy if front of me what was going on and he offered to have his wife help me back my car onto the barge. Turns out it was Ben Chill and his wife!! How funny. What a great start of a trip to meet a forum member randomly!
So went to the villa, a little cloudy, but still a nice view.

Cute resident dog.

Went to dinner at ZoZo’s. Had the duck appetizer and the shrimp entre. Yummy.
This morning I couldn’t find my credit card. Aghh! Looked all over villa, couldn’t find it, then went back to ZoZo’s to see if I left it there. They couldn’t find it either. Great. Now I’m on island with no credit card and limited cash. Called to freeze my card and made plans to wire money from home. Lovely.
Anyway. Decided to go on a drive to the East End. I love love love driving a jeep on st john. I guess I was just so excited and had a lot of energy, I just wanted to drive! I have been here 4 times before and never made it to the East End. I know. I know. Don’t say it. There was a cute fellow along the way. I just couldn’t help myself. This one’s for you Donkey Boy.
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/35307278@N06/3329176083/" title="photo.jpg by sugarbird00, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3616/332 ... 206c_o.jpg" width="600" height="800" alt="photo.jpg"></a>
Vie’s is cute. I like it.
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/35307278@N06/3330031734/" title="photo.jpg by sugarbird00, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3329/333 ... 1bab_o.jpg" width="600" height="800" alt="photo.jpg"></a>

I thought this place was supposed to be desolate. There’s at least 15 plus jeeps here. Long lines for food. Ordered my pineapple tart and off I went to vie’s beach. Must have been 25 plus people on the beach. There was a drunken party boat parked off the shore there blaring their cheesy music. (sorry to offend if that was you but I’m glad the boat finally left!) I parked myself at the far end of the beach.
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/35307278@N06/3328092561/" title="photo.jpg by sugarbird00, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3354/332 ... 96f0_o.jpg" width="600" height="800" alt="photo.jpg"></a>

Decided that since the storms were coming, it would be a good idea to get my north shore snorkeling in now so I decided to head off to Hawksnest. Of coarse picking up fellow granola hitchhikers that were walking from coral bay to maho. (what a hike!)

The water seems warmer than last march. I don’t know. Hawksnest is nice and calm. Never mind the lady that got in the way of my pic.

I get a call from Zozo’s that they found my credit card. Yay!

Back to villa for shower, picked up credit card, went to ballet class at St. john school of the arts and then walked to Rhumb lines for dinner. I know that a lot of y’all like it there, but it was just too crowded and stuffy. No breeze. I was going to eat at the bar but was next to the overly flirtatious college student hitting on the bartender (who was not amused). I just paid for my glass of wine and went on to La Tapa. Much better atmosphere and I had a really nice dinner.

Okay it’s way too late and I’ve got to get to bed. The storm’s a coming already. Hope those swells aren’t too bad….

loria,
WOW! How do you keep your self-control? That's just way too much temptation. way too much. i would tell my hubby and kids that i was, uh, going to the grocery store and it was going to be a full shopping trip, and i, uh, might not make it back today

Yea, a live trip report!

Will your bank turn your card back on after you called and cancelled it? I hope so.

I love the donkey picture. More please!

becky, i only had the card frozen vs cancelled. that way i could call and get it unfrozen if it turned up which was likely (i was hoping at the time). If I canceled it alltogether, I'd be stuck here with no money and no card. hmmm...wait a minute. stuck here. i like that.

It sounds like you are having a great time by yourself. As one who spends a couple of weeks or more on island by myself I can appreciate the rest and relaxation when you are alone. It truly is a special time. Alone but not lonely. I love my family but.....
