seeking honest feedback about a resort on St.Thomas

Post by skiracer »

Hi all,

Well,

I got laid off from my job a few weeks ago and have been dragging around the apt., applying for jobs, and being pretty lousy to be around. My fiance convinced me we should take a trip and clear my mind, and come back with a new start.....so she booked a vacation for March 19th to St. Thomas last night and paid for it....so no turning back!

The problem is, after reading all those review sites, the place has been getting HAMMERED on it's service and cleanliness! We are totally worried that we will come back more stressed than I am now. The place is called Wyndham Sugar Bay Resort and Spa.....and i just want to get a real responses from some people...not resort staff who post fake/good reviews. Please, how bad or good is the place.....I will cancel and eat the charges for cancellation if need be....just don't want to spend a few thousand dollars, and regret it.

Thanks for any true feedback!

Hi there....congrats on throwing your hat over the wall and doing something positive in a bad situation! When life gives you lemons....make lemonade....(and then go to the usvi's and add rum to it! LOL).....

We have been to both st. john and st. thomas several times....but last summer we stayed on St. Thomas at a condo at the Elysian resort.....but we frequented a GREAT beach right next door to the Windham.....It was called Lindquist.....and now it is called Smith Bay Park or something.

We tend to stay at condo's or villas on the islands so I can't comment on the resort itself....but I would recommend renting a car and seeing what the island has to offer...and get over to st. john at least once!

My husband went to all the beaches you read about on our 9 days there....and he thinks that Smith Bay beach was by far the best on St. Thomas......

Enjoy your trip and may it change the way you look at the world!

I rarely hear a complaint from the visitors I meet - my sister stayed there twice in the last year with her family and thought it was all as represented - clean, great view etc. - it doesn't have the greatest beach by any stretch of the imagination -- but is close- 1/2 mi to Lindvquist Beach , one of the prettiest in the VI and I would recommend renting a car to do plenty of off premise exploring - it has an all inclusive option - some people like that? - but STT has a lot of great places to dine if you so choose. Large resort feeling - stairs and hills - big pool area - spa on property - -- -- my opinion - 1st VI visit - fine choice if you like the price.

Have NOT stayed at the Wyndham, but I have heard good things, not bad.
I just returned from STT, visited nearby Lindvquist Beach/Smith Bay twice. Close to Wyndham, best beach on STT, operated by Magens Bay Authority with nominal security. Great place to spend the day.
Enjoy your trip, create your own impressions of the Wyndham.

Jorge wrote:JJ, Welcome to the forum. I would not cancel anything if I were you. I'm glad to here that you are going thru with your plans. My brother had a boat trip planned and canceled because he was layed off. He worked for Cox and a friend turned him in for smoking a little weed and they did a suprise drug test. You need a good STT trip to clear your head. Take care, J
That's just wrong!! He deserves a trip...his "friend" will hopefully get bit by his karma.
Still waiting to return to St. John!
