Kids at the Beach Bar?
Kids at the Beach Bar?
Thinking of bringing my grand baby this trip. She is 8. One of my favorite hang outs is the beach bar. Illegal, inapropriate to bring her along? I know that I would have to behave!
We bring our girls to the Beach Bar all the time. Depending on the time of day we will either sit to the side in a booth (if there is not a band) or on the beach. Either is fine.
They love to dig in the sand while they are waiting for food.
The only thing to know is their might be a little "gangha" how do you spell it? smoking going on in the bushes facing the beach to the left. It is always just a few guys (locals) and they are discrete. It is probably not Beach Bar property. But I don't let the kids wander over there.
It is NOTHING to worry about, but I don't let them go to the beach there unless I am sitting on the beach with them. Just common sense, there is water there too and it is a little dark.
The absolute worse thing that would happen is that they see a few really drunk people (probably after they are dropped off from a snorkeling excursion). Even then we just use that as a time to show them that there are responsible ways to drink and there are irresponsible ways.
(Even though we aren't THAT responsible, they don't know it!)
Again, it is really fine to bring kids. When I read what I just posted, that is based on the worst things we have seen over the years. You are fine going. It is quite the laid back place.

"Sponges grow in the ocean...I wonder how much deeper it would be if that didn't happen."
The Beach Bar is one of the most kid friendly spots on the island. There's plenty for them to do there and the food is very kid friendly. My daughters love the place. There are usually some dogs and kids on the beach plus the Maho trees there are very climbable.
My daughters like the virgin daiquiris there almost as much as the ones from Woody's.

I had my 4 there last week twice (ages 8-12). They loved the Tuna Down Now - and the virgin drinks (painkillers even!). We sat up in the tables in the back. Kids liked playing with the cats that hang out there, as well. I have no reservations about kids there. Woody's on the other hand may not be the best. Also, we ate at Rhumb Lines a number of times and found that was great for kids and parents. The food was excellent; and they serve a couple of dishes as "kids" portions which are actually smaller sized adult meals (strip steak and a few others). This was pretty pricey (I don't think I got out of there for under $200 for 6 of us) but the "outdoor patio" atmosphere was great after a day on the beach.
Have a great trip!
