Weather in April

Post by JJShaw »

We have managed to get a few days without the kids in April and thinking we may hop on down to Cinnamon camping. For those of you that have been in April,
We are curious as to how the weather will be in April as compared to June. Will there still swells or will the waters be calm?
Thanks...:)

I agree with Joshie. Because of our kids school schedules over the past 10 years we have visited either in Feb, March, or April. April was my favorite weather wise for the reasons Joshie mentioned plus it seemed to rain less. Things were not as lush green sometimes by April as things were drying out a bit but all and all we prefered the warmer nights and calm water.

March was pretty near perfect but in Feb. the water was still pretty churned up and the nights were cool. The upside of February is getting out of the freezing winter but let's face it....April in New England might as well be February....it looks and feels pretty much the same!

We've vacationed 3 times on STJ late April / early May. Weather has always been great- what little rain we may have had passed quickly- no washouts any of those three weeks IIRC, and north shore beaches were alway calm too.

Back again in late April - 62 days and counting......

In general, I agree with the other posters. We used to often get very substantial rain in late April /early May that ended the late winter dry season, but the past ten years or so have not followed that pattern.
ON April 18th, 1983, 18 inches fell in 14 hours (most of it actually in 5 hours) !!!!! -----more typically the month starts out very dry and gets somewhat wetter in the last week or so. The water is warming up, and there's rarely a north swell.

We always go late April at the beginning of the low season. And love it. Warm days and cool nights.

April & May are the best time to visit IMO. Calm & clear waters and the start of the low season.

Love this time of year! We used to do most of our trips in April/May.

If you go early enough in April you can see some of the sailing races. Lots of fun!
