VG trip report soon come

Post by PA Girl »

Horrors!

We are cheating on STJ and heading over to Virgin Gorda next week.

The house/cat sitter is all set up. We sort of packed tonight and will finish up over the weekend.

For the first time in years we have no set plans for vacation. The wish list is a snorkel tripn to the dogs and Anegada and maybe a massage. Otherwise, we are without commitments, which is unusual for us.

Will post a trip repot when we get home.

I'm really looking forward to your TR! We'll be sailing with Scuba Girl and Kellyanna at the end of April, and similarly to you, other than knowing we'll be on a sailboat for a week, our itinerary is completely open. We definitely plan to make a stop at Virgin Gorda, so I'll be interested in hearing about it from the perspective of someone who really has no set plan! :D

Great! It's a beautiful beach and you will have the best view over the Dogs. Good snorkeling also from Mahoe Bay. I'm so envious :D.

Looking forward already to the trip report and pictures.

Have a great time.

A day trip to Anegada is really easy from Virgin Gorda.

If you can fit it in, the Rock Cafe is excellent.

If you go to the Rock Cafe, call ahead so you can get a seat up in the rocks and, just so that you are prepared, also assume that the service is likely to be rather "indifferent". That said, go with it, chill and enjoy the setting, because the food hasnt disappointed the 2 times we've been.

If you go to the Mineshaft, the wraps and ribs are great, and also call ahead for a seat on the railing at sunset so you can enjoy the view and get a kick out of those wacky chickens that stumble up into the big tree by the deck. I think the Mineshaft was running free cab service at one time with a dinner reservation. Dont know if that applies all the up to Mahoe. Might want to ask about it.

If you do need a VG taxi, I highly recommend Shorn at 284-541-2917. Wonderful personality and always right on time.

Also advisable to make a reservation for the Friday night BBQ buffet/Jumbie show at Leverick as that has gotten more and more popular.

Sorry if any of this is redundant, but I cant help but be excited for you. Can you tell I wish I was going?

Very nice, beach access from a villa. Did you get one with a pool?

"our" house does have a pool.

We already have reservations for the Leverick BBQ and they are sending a cab for us. I will inquire to if the Mineshaft will do the same, good suggestion thanks.

The Mineshaft chickens will thrill our 3 year old and freak out our friend (the twin of the STJ beach chicken lady).

The Rock Cafe is on the list, as is Chez Bamboo.

Anegada is on the want-to-do list we are still deciding if we are go by boat or fly. Half the party has boat issues, half has flying issues.

you'll have a great time! mahoe is beautiful. unfortunately i don't believe my favorite restaurant is there anymore - giorgio's. there was a mud (rock?!) slide in the fall and it did a lot of damage. worth looking into though. it's fabulous.

i'd also recommend hopping over to mosquito island (from leverick is easiest) if you can. they should allow you on the island, and it's a beautiful place to explore. you can also go to prickly pear from leverick. great burgers, great beach :-) there's some great snorkeling at the dog's (three islands just off VG).

another vote for rock cafe! also try to use the spa at little dix. expensive but sooo worth it. i highly recommend the couples massage in the cottage at sunset. we did this on our honeymoon and it was awesome.

we've sailed the bvi for years, so i'm happy to answer any questions anyone has. it's how i fell in love with stj :-)

have fun!!!! did i mention i'm envious?!

I was checking my work email (gotta be done, no avoiding it) and jumped over to the forum.

Quick reply -

Georgio's is indeed closed.

Beach access at Mahoe is great.

Water rough since arrival, seemed to be calming down yesterday afternoon.

Restaurants and bars are nearly empty.
