Coming back...

Post by elisa_nj »

We are coming back to STT in Oct. and would like to do our 1x or 2x trip over to STJ. This time I'd actually like to see more than A BAR! Last trip we walked up the hill to check out Gallows then back down to plop ourselves on a bar stool at The Beach Bar and never left until it was time to catch the ferry back to STT. Don't get me wrong I had a wonderful time and dream about that Tuna Down Under alot...but now its time to get serious and go see some beaches!

My question is...if I get public transportation to Cinnamon and/or Trunk...how do I get back? We obvsiouly will not have a car and if we hire a car/taxi for the duration it seems like wasted time and money. I have no idea how long I'd want to spend at each place! Thanks all!

We stayed on STT last year and did the day trip to STJ. You will have no problem getting a taxi for the ride back to the ferry dock. There were plenty of drivers right at the entrance to Trunk.

Where are you staying on STT? We stayed at the Cove and loved it. We are going back this July.

This year we are staying at the Wyndham Sugar Bay. My husband LOVES resorts and got his way this trip. I myself prefer to be in a condo with full kitchen, etc. Got the most incredible rate at the Wyndham too. Actually costing less than our Condo at Point Pleasant last year.

Are there cabs at Cinnamon also? If we like one better than the other we just may stay!

P.S. I'm originally from LI!

The Wyndham sounds great, where on the island is it? The Frenchman's Cove is a Marriott timeshare property so we get the best of both worlds. It's still being built so all the amenities aren't there yet but it's adjacent to the Frenchman's Reef hotel and we can use their facilites too. The units are like an apartment with a full kitchen, living area, 2 bedrooms and 2 balconies. All rooms are waterfront and the view is spectacular!

We only got to Trunk on STJ last year. We thought about going to another beach but stopped for a drink and one led to another . . . This year we'll try for another beach.

I think I would suggest one or the other. Although a purist would say they are different, I would say they are not so different that it would be worth relocating...anyone want to weigh in on that?

Personally, I would vote Cinnamon. I just like their restaurant better and nice wide beach. Not as many seagulls. But that's just me.

Are there less cruise ship excursions at Cinnamon? When we were at Trunk last year around 2:00 they started rounding up the cruise ship people and by 3:00 we had a nice empty beach.

Would you consider renting a car. Our only trip to St. T was in 2001. My wife and I rented a car and cought the car ferry over. We went to Trunk and Hawksnest. We drove to Shipwreck landing on the Coral Bay side for lunch. We had a great time and it was the best day of our trip. We loved the freedom to do what we wanted when we wanted and felt adventureous driving our jeep around ST. J.

We also stayed in STT one trip, got a great car deal, drove over 2 days on the car ferry. The last one does not leave very late 7? So we took the people ferry over one afternoon to shop, barhop etc & go back later at night. We were able to go to any beach/beaches we wanted unlike the taxi route. Well worth it. With the deal on the STT condo it was worth it.
