Back to the Chimp attack, it was really horrible.

The woman lost both her eyes, part of her nose and jaw bone and that's only part of her injuries.

I heard the 911 tape and it seems like it took awhile for the dispatcher to understand exactly what was attacking who.

It's terrible all around. They were friends and I'm sure the woman who owned the Chimp really did love him, but what a mistake all around.

we own a rottweiler (dallas) and i asked my husband last night- would you be able to attack (and stab) dallas if he was attacking a person?

dallas is highly trained so this is very unlikely but my point is that i really cannot imagine having to kill my beloved pet while it was attacking my beloved friend.

what a horrible, terible situation.

I love my furry friends but a persons life would come first. Afterward I'd probaly blame my self for not stopping it from ever happening.

There is a big chimp being kept in our town. They say when it was younger the owner used to drive around town with it in the car. We can see it from the church parking lot and sometimes it calls (hooting sound) at people. It is in a very sturdy indoor/outdoor cage, but I'm sure if it ever got out people around here are armed and would not hesitate to shoot it.

Did anyone watch Animal Planet last night? They had this thing on "Rogue Chimps" or something like that. It was unbelieveable.

I am thinking they have had to pull it out of their archives, it couldnt have been scheduled by coincidence?

Anyways, I am watching it-really gruesome injuries-really awful-and I am thinking "I need post this to let the forum know this is on!"

And then I am thinking "How am I going to do this without letting my husband know I am completely and totally addicted to this forum?"

How did this happen, I was a lurker for years.

Someone yell at me and piss me off so I can get my life back! :(

You are not alone. I have sworn off the forum and then fallen off the wagon several times.

About the chimps...I was trying to research the one in our town and found out there are actually three chimps in that home.

There is a book "Visions of Caliban" by Dale Peterson and Jane Goodall. You can read some of it on-line. It describes several instances of chimps being kept in homes and none of them end happily. Especially for the chimps. :(

Internet addiction? Seems so. For some people it really does become a compulsion that starts off enhancing their life, but eventually has negative impact on their "offline" life. Real life relationships and functioning can be impaired. Responsibilities might be neglected or a person's online friends and online life can become more enjoyable and meaningful than their offline world.

Here's a couple of links:

And here's a questionair to assess ourselves:

I got a 45 which means I am ok. But I think I have been worse lately.

So I am going to cut back.

As soon as I check my email.

The chimp thing is creepy. And I do know people who would put their pets before other humans, which I think is also creepy. But then again, I am really weird about pets and just think they're animals. I'll stop talking before someone calls me mean. I did cry when my Jack Russell Terrier got hit by a car, if that wins me points.

As far as the forum addiction, I got no tips. I'm here right now. But, I'm alone at work and it's about to get busy, so I am just going to be lazy until Monday. I need my energy for a two-year-old's birthday party tomorrow.
