What groceries to buy on St. Thomas before heading over?

What groceries/provisions are really worth stopping for in St. Thomas? (Besides cold beer for the ferry ride )

We stopped at the Food Center last year for water, juice, cereal and sun lotion and din't find that much of a price difference. The selection was much better though.

Individually bottled water seems to be the biggest cost savings. After that, local papaya and mango are our favorites. Food Center does have some interesting beers.

In November we sent Jorge to Cost-U-Less with a shopping list. The money bought more drinks than we could consume in a week!

We generally find the prices at the Food Center are on average about 25% less than what you can find on STJ. This is for things like milk, eggs, pop/soda, beer, ice cream, bread, bottled water, and all liquor except rum.

As of this past summer, the best price we saw for rum was $5 for regular Cruzan at Starfish. The best price for flavored Cruzan was at Dolphin Market.

I just want to get to STJ so I don't care what I pay. It's my vacation and I do it once a year so I don't sweat the small stuff. I've always found everything I need on STJ.

We plan on loading our 2 jeeps with as much as we need on STT. I planned on getting bottled water, beer, coco lopez, eggs, cereal, bread, and basically any other "staples" and leaving produce or meat for STJ.

You will pass the Food Center on your way to the car ferry. It is a couple minutes before the car barge on the left side of the road.

Yep

We take meat with us because the price is so high in the islands and the quality isn't often great, so if you're going to buy it there just be prepared that you might not get what you're used to getting.
