Yes, remora.
There were a lot of reports of very large remora "bumping" swimmers on north shore last summer...just trying to hook up. People thought the remoras were sharks, with predictably swift exits from the water!

I had one of those things try to attach to me while in Jamaica. I about crapped myself, I was way way out there. My heart about came thru my chest till I got a look at him. Needless to say he followed me forever as I swam back trying to attach to me now and then. He finnally gave up on me about a hundred yards from shore.
