OK, I've asked this before, and FlaGeorge will be staying there in May, and has promised a trip report and villa review, (can't wait), but does anyone have prior experience staying at La Papaya? I am bringing 6 newbies with me and they are full of questions about the whole villa and island experience. I can tell them about St. John, (I used to live there), but I have no first hand knowledge of La Papaya, or any other villa as anyone who lives and works there does not live in a multi-million $ villa. I lived on a boat. SOooo, any info from any of you that have stayed there would be greatly appreciated. You can PM me if you like.

Hey Frank,
I have not stayed at La Papaya, but maybe I can help a little.
We stayed directly above it at Temptress, a 2BR, last July. What I can tell you is that it's located up Rock Ridge Road, the first left past the Westin heading out of town, which you probably already knew. It looks very nice from the road with a privacy wall and gate to enter to the pool area. The views are excellent. My personal opinion is that in villas with lower level bedrooms, they are often not as nice as the upper level ones. Often the view is not as good and sometimes they have a bit of a basement-y feel to them. We usually factor this in when we split the rent, or switch rooms mid-trip to keep it fair. I don't know if this applies to La Papaya, but from the pictures, it appears the lower two bedrooms are smaller and they share a bath.
I think it looks like a great house, great location, fairly new, with excellent views and privacy, at a good price. We would definitely rent it if it were available at a time we were going with more people, and I'm kinda picky.
One good thing to know, when we stayed at Temptress, we could hear the people talking below us at La Papaya. A normal speaking voice didn't carry, but most of their boisterous conversations sounded like they were on our deck.
Somebody had a potty mouth
but in a drunk hilarious kind of way. I don't think the acoustics work the other way or else they would have heard us laughing our butts off at them.
I hope this helps. Ya'll are going to have a great time.

Frank,
We were at La Papaya last year and will be staying there in June this year. The lower level has a king size bedroom suite and a small apartment with two bedrooms. The lower level has a deck that is shady and cool during the day and is a great place for the fair skinned people to sit out and enjoy a beverage during the day.
The upper deck has a fantastic view facing the south with a great view of St. Thomas to the east.
The pool has a great feature: a small ledge about 3 feet deep runs the length of the pool on the faux infinity edge side. You can stand on the ledge in the water with your beverage on the pool edge and enjoy the views of Chocolate Hole and St. Thomas.
