St. John Villa Beds
St. John Villa Beds
Hi Folks,
Long time lurker, first time poster here. Given how valuable this board was in planning our first trip to St. John last summer, I figured the best way to get my somewhat strange question answered was to ask it here!
Would anyone happen to know whether the twin beds found in many villas are of the "extra long" variety? I.e. many places indicate that a bedroom with two twins can be arranged as a king, but do not indicate whether the twins are the standard 75 inches long or the extended 80 inches (which is the standard king length).
We have an unusually tall group going, which is why I am asking this, and the bed length issue is eliminating a host of otherwise great viall choices.
Thanks for any and all help!

I think that the only way you will get a definitive answer on this is to contact the villa rental agencies directly. All villa furnishings are unique so one might have the longer twins and others might have the standard twins.
Worst case scenario, feet are going to hang off of the bed.

Marcia,
Thanks for the reply. I guess that is the best way to go! Feet dangling of the end of the bed versus central AC is definitely a tough one...

I don't know what you are looking for in a villa concerning size, location, price etc. but I noticed this one has twin beds that make into a king and they are the extended length.

Jo Ann,
Great info - thanks very much! Actually that place meets all our criteria (3+ br, decent pool, AC in bedrooms) except that we wanted to be closer to Cruz Bay - although there might be flexibility there too.
Thanks again!

ts, I'd focus more on location and other amenities you want (view, pool, hot tub, a/c, etc...) then contact the agencies about bed sizes. Again, if feet are hanging off the bed, that might be a small price to pay for a villa that meets all of your other needs.
As an aside, I'm not tall. Okay, I'm short. But, my feet hang off of most beds. I think it's how I like to skooch down in the bed so that there are pillows above me...so, feet hanging off the bed is not a down-side. It's pretty much a given.

See my quote below my trip ticker. That is a quote from out trip last year said by my husband in the middle of the night.
I am 5'2" and feel like a giant in my king bed, I think it has everything to do with how you sleep, not necessarily the bed.
I would sleep on a cot in an air conditioned room on STJ with a view of my villa pool. Find the house and tolerate the bed, that is my rule.

I expect the bedding to be just as they say in the listing. I have had "peculiar" questions from folks in our groups regarding particular features of a villa. A phone call to the management company usually resolves the question. I'm 6-foot and have never had a problem with a bed, but I imagine someone coming in at 6' 8" would just about anywhere.
"Hi, one of my folks has a question about the curtains in the west-facing room. Do they prohibit all wavelengths of visible, and near-visible light, from passing through or creating any form of incursion into that room before the hour of noon, local time?
Yes, I agree that this is a pretty strange question, but if you don't give me a plausible answer I am going to have them call you directly."
The villa management companies are accustomed to questions that make no sense whatsoever. Your questions will be a relief and fill with a sense of empowerment.
Cheers, RickG
