Pay Attention To Me!

Post by StJohnRuth »

Hi!
Doesn't it just seem as if a lot of people want a lot of attention right now? I don't know what it is exactly, but everyone is crazy with it.
We are are all so turned around, we can't even tell what's supposed to be funny anymore.
My recommendation is this:
Be who you are and what you are. That's probably good enough for us, we're a pretty accepting crowd here, and we just LOVE to laugh, but everyone is getting awfully uncomfortable with mysterious identities.
It's funny, in a way, but it's making people awfully uneasy.
You can be a person who brings together people with common interests or you can be a person who divides people and invites divisiveness.
Who do you want to be?
I just don't know what else to say.

To me it looks like the same attention seekers as always. I don't know why everyone is so agitated. Me thinks not enough St John due to the crappy economy. Plus us Northerners have cabin fever.
When will I see St John again?

Yup, a lot of people seem to need strokes. It's kind of funky.

Let's talk about the USVIs, the thing we ALL have in common. I'm putting up my trip report Monday. I was going to do an abridged version, but I changed my mind.
It's like looking in your soup and finding a whole different alphabet.

Becky's TR will be the thing I can look forward to when it's all over. :D

Yes, liamsaunt - post "The Whole Darn Thing"!
Ever since you got back, I've been hoping to find your TRs every time I come here. I've read your restaurant reviews and appreciate your insight very much. I think we all need some good VI related readings... at least I do!

loria - I really like Salem. I just don't like the drive to Salem from the East Bay.
On 128. During rushhour. Which is like 4am - noon

Becky - I'm sorry I could not wait for you to come home from your trip. Your trip reports have always been some of my favorites - they are very informative and descriptive and the photos are very good. Please don't abridge - you wouldn't read Les Miserable abridged would you? Ok, so I guess it's not quite the same, but you know what I mean. I really appreciate the obvious time and effort you put into your reports, thank you for sharing them.

FWIW my two cents:

I haven't really hung around consistently enough to know who's who or who is a Cyber Sybil so whatever is going on is sort of going over my head. I think this kind of tension happens on all message boards eventually when there is a core crowd and the inevitable falling out between a few happens. The majority of folks cannot even be sure what is causing the tension because stuff goes on behind the scenes of the board. That's where it should stay.

While we're on the subject, please indulge my two cents on another or perhaps related matter. If you ask me and of course no one has...the best way to ruin a perfectly good message board that was created for the purpose of a common interest other than politics is to discuss politics......ever or at all. Everyone has very strong feelings on one side or the other and when there is a lack of respect and tolerance shown for the other's views whether in the form of George Bush as chimp or Obama as Socialist puppet then people get angry. It's just plain bad manners to insult each other's political views here when the country is so passionately divided right now. And it's unfair to the admin who has worked really hard to make this a great marketing tool. It's too late now but I think the politics discussions and insults meant to be funny have harmed the harmony on this board. It would be great IMO if people would lay off the political digs. It's rude. Enough from me on that.

Looking forward to more trip reports.

Agent99 - Well said. When people are stirring the pot, I try to stay out of the kitchen. Actually, I'm not much of a cook, so I usually try to stay out of the kitchen. Though last night I made a mean chicken marsala... but I digress.

I try to ignore anything I don't find amusing or interesting, or that's posted just to provoke (primarily) negative reactions. I don't understand the undercurrent, but I feel it, and it doesn't seem to be just Joshie. BTW - I loved the Oprah - she walks among us and has a nicer house than you bit. I thought that was amusing. But I never believed she was on STJ.

Do you have a trip coming soon, and, if so, do you have any remoras that you're bringing with you? We'll be on STJ one month from today with our 11 year old son. I was wondering if you're on the same school vacation schedule as we are (last 2 weeks of March).
