MIlitary Care Packages

Post by Tracy in WI »

Hi All -

I've posted this before and sent some care packages to relatives/friends of some forumites so I thought I would post again.

Through my church, we send care pacakages to men and women overseas in Iraq and Afghanistan. Our goal has been to do this four times a year. We're getting set to do another mailing in early March.

If any of you has a friend or family member that is serving us overseas, I'd be happy to include them on our list. Send me a PM with any questions.

Thank you for thinking of our military folks overseas. Contributing to the USO is a good way to help also.

Tracy, I think I pm'ed you thanks, but if I have not before, here is more thanks for your group's generosity in a public format! My brother in law got at least two of your church's packages during his tours for certain--he thought maybe more, but so many packages came from your area, he was not 100%. He distributed everything in them to his team and your group made a lot of people happy!

He is stateside for the time being, in ranger school now  at 35, which is kind of crazy--he's older than the typical candidate, but still in it--completed three weeks so far.
It's like looking in your soup and finding a whole different alphabet.

Becky - I am just happy to have helped in some way. I think with the economy, new president and such, many people forget about the sacrifices being made for us overseas. Whether you agree with the war or not, there are so many men and women in Iraq and Afghanistan who are away from their families and in harms way. I just read about two US Soldiers who died today in Afghanistan.

So, I am happy that your brother in law is back and also happy that we could do our little something to show him we care and are thinking about him! With each mailing we usually sent 3-4 boxes and will continue to do that until the need no longer exists. I hope it is soon.
