Thanks for all the suggestions everyone. I usually wear jeans and a long sleeve t-shirt with sneakers. I also carry a pair of shorts in my backpack to make the switch ASAP but might try wearing the shorts this year.

We take a taxi to the airport, wear zip-off pants and socks with Tevas. The kids usually wear jeans, riding boots and a hoody.

I'm also a fan of the zip-off pants.
They rule.

 We always get rides to the airport in the morning. Dropped off at the front door , throw the coat in the backseat of the car and away we go. Been doing this for years..so easy. Change clothes at Miami.

RickG's daughter go horseback riding while on-island and I sure wearing them save room in the luggage.

I didn't think about there being horseback riding available on St. John. I don't think I have ever seen anything larger than a donkey on the island. Anyone know where the horses are?

Yep, the bulkiest things we bring are riding boots. Dana at Carolina Corral is the place to go - 1-340-693-5778. Over near Skinny Legs in Coral Bay.

Overman - how long will you be on island, and will you be bringing your remora with you? We're there 3/15-3/27. We may just miss you.

Even though is was "warm" in NE today, I still can't wait to get out of here :D
