I got the worm!
No no no - not that nasty thing at the bottom of a tequila bottle. I'm going for that "early bird gets the worm" thing. Flights opened up today for the travel dates I wanted, so I got up early and booked with FF miles. Got tix for all 4 of us! Woo hoo!
It's a long way out (we leave the day after Christmas), but I knew you wouldn't mind me celebrating here with you!

Congratulations. We woke up at 12:01 once to make reservations with FF miles. Did they let you make the return flight also? We had to call back 10 days later to get the return flight. Someting about making the reservations 333 days ahead of time.chicagoans wrote:No no no - not that nasty thing at the bottom of a tequila bottle. I'm going for that "early bird gets the worm" thing. Congrats! A word of warning, though. We did the same thing back in August for our 6/09 trip. A few weeks ago they cancelled our flight, moved us to a horrendous itinerary. When we called to try to get a better itinerary, we were told we couldn't because we used FF miles and there were no FF seats available. Arguing that they were the ones that changed our flights got us no where. They offered to put the miles back into our account. If they offer you a "refund" they are under no obligation to do anything else for you. So keep checking those flights about six months out.

hoosier - we booked both ways. Today our return flights opened up.
mcdomzal - good point about the potential for change. I'll keep checking and hope that the airline gods have mercy! (And you're right -- free is real good!)
crash - At 5:00 a.m. seats were filled with little virtual people up to row 12 or 13. I can live with that! I should check again just to see what it's like now...
