Hi everyone! Just wondering if anyone has done any geo-cacheing around the island?

Martini Girl... Basically Geocaching is a high-tech scavenger hunt. Folks hide a "cache" which contains a log book and usually some trinkets. Then they post the coordinates (latitude and longitude) on the web site below and others use a GPS to find the cache. You're supposed to sign the log book and you can take a trinket if you want to and leave another in it's place. Here's more info than you probably want...

Bilter... I did a search for caches on STJ and found three. Apparently there used to be some in the National park but the Park folks removed them. They were concerend about damage to ruins, etc. by folks looking for the caches. The three that are currently listed have all been found recently. We plan on looking for them when we are there at the end of March.

Bilter: My son has been 'caching for a few years now. We're leaving for STJ on 2/24 and he eager to look for any and leave a few.
Never thought I would say it, but its really quite fun. (As you know!)

Sounds very cool.

We recommend that people leave little caches of rum around the island then send us the coordinate.

My sister will be doing this when we go down in June. I'm anxious to hear about everyone's experience.

Yeah, but if you wander off after too many painkillers you'd be able to find your way back...
