Jumbies Got My Backpack
Well... Short story is that somewhere between Jumbie and Maho my backpack flew off the top of my car roof this afternoon and it's gone... Why was it on the roof? Only the Jumbies know for sure. Anyway, if there's anyone out there that hears from someone who found a grey backpack with 2 cameras, a set of keys, an electronic car key, a 2007 St. John Blues Festival t-shirt, a Republic of Coral Bay hat, and who knows what other little treasures, they used to be mine. We checked with the National Park folks, the Cruz Bay police station and even Connections. No luck. And today is our last day - we'll be on the 6AM car barge. Shot in the dark, but I thought I'd post this here and see what happens. Now it's up to the Jumbies...

I hope it turns up. I feel your pain. My hubby left the camera on top of the car in Tightwad Missouri (we of course had to take pics of the road sign). He put it on the roof cause he wanted to take off his sweatshirt and never put it in the car. To quote National Lampoons Vacation where he left the dog tied to the car....
Poor little fellow, he probably hung on for a mile or two!
Good luck.

sucks to lose personal stuff since in the end that's all we have to prove we were here...last march the jumbies took my water wallet with cash, credit cards, license, and the computer chip jeep key that got us pretty stuck on the east end, but other than money and patience nothing valuable was lost...hope your stuff finds it's way home.
Those darn jumbies!
Now I have an explanation for my husband losing his sunglasses. They have made off with them on 3 different trips. We only recovered them once. Now he has cheaper sunglasses for our trips to St John. I got SO sick of it.
For some reason the Jumbies like making men put valuables on the tops of their jeeps.....

"So, did you return home with your backpack??"
Me - In sub-freezing Maryland.
Backpack - (Most likely) Still on St. John...
But I have not given up... And I have this feeling that it still might turn up. I have to believe that whoever found it wants to return it to me. They just don't know who I am. And where I got those great cheap sunglasses... Man that sun was a killer late this afternoon...
More phone calls on Monday...
