Hello! .......and a dessert question!

Post by vi lover »

Hello everyone! I'm brand new to this discussion board, but am a regular contributor to another VI board.

Just wondering if you all had a recommendation for where I might purchase a great Key Lime pie to take to our villa for dessert after dinner one evening?

We're staying at Island Horizons villa on STJ, and our group just LOVES Key Lime pie. Well, truth be told, we just LOVE all kinds of desserts, so here's my second question: Any other recommendations for local/tropical desserts for our villa?

We'll be cooking-in 4-5 meals during the week, and would love to have some great dessert ideas for this vacation. There's 6 of us in the villa.

Glad to be here - I've been lurking for a couple weeks, and am ready to start contributing here, as well. Thanks for your advice!

I am a .... VI Lover!

Greetings - welcome to the board from a "mostly lurker, sometimes poster".

We love the Key lime pie from Shipwreck Landing in Coral Bay. Someone told us they make it from scratch with fresh limes. Its really yummy. You might be able to call ahead and order a whole pie to make sure they have it for you.

When are you going to STJ? - hopefully we won't be competing for key lime pie in May when we're there

The other places we had good desserts are closed now  (Stone Terrace and a little deli/bakery in Coral Bay that had excellent cookies)

I've never been there, but doesn't Baked In The Sun in Cruz Bay have delicious goodies?

By the way, welcome to the forum vi lover!

We bought a key lime pie from Baked in the Sun during one trip. It was very yummy and huge! I highly recommend them for their sweets! Their raspberry granola bars are my favorite.

The bar cookies from Deli Grotto would also make the perfect dessert one evening!

I second Shipwreck Landing! Their drinks are fabulous too! Also, close to your villa for taking home dessert! We stayed at Island Horizons in December! Great place and what a view!

Thanks for the ideas! We'll stop by places you mention and see what they have.

We'll probably make some simple desserts ourselves in the villa, as well. Brownies and/or a cake of some sort. Just don't want to worry about making our vacation too much like work! More fun to bring home the dessert and just enjoy.

Baked in the Sun has take-away Key Lime Pies that are delish.

As for per-piece options, I've had it many places on St. John, and my favorite is still Skinny's. It may just be the perfect accompaniment to a cheeseburger and several Cruzan melees though!
