Adventurous moms?

Post by gymnastika »

Are there any other adventurous moms that takes their kids to St. John by themselves? Am I the only one? I am wanting to take my 2 boys, 6 and 8, a week earlier than when hubs can come. Why shuffle them around to karate, soccor, when I can shuffle them from Gibney to Cinnamon. Are there going to be any other forumites with kids down there in june or july that would like to meet up? I haven't booked anything yet, but probably end of june or first three weeks of july.

I would do it and plan to in the future. Hubs, on the other hand, has some anxiety issues associated with his son traveling without him and will likely fight me on it.

Then it will be his choice, take two weeks off or Xanax every day and we will meet you at the ferry dock.

I'm doing it! We have a timeshare at the end of June and I will be down there with my husband and son. I plan to stay on for an extra week with just my son (10). My husband may come mid-week or Saturday to Saturday, he's not sure yet.

I've done this before, but never to St. John. We did a driving trip to Florida and then another to Alabama for spring break one year - just me and the kids.

Maybe we can meet up at the beach at some point if we're there at the same time.

thanks moms for replying! I'm glad to know there are other moms that are as insane as I.

Tracy, so you'll be there basically last week of June, first week of July?

Yep - The plan is to arrive on June 20th and stay until around July 4th. Airfare for that time frame just jumped, so the days might be off a little depending on what I can find.

I didn't stay by myself, but I travelled with my daughter when she was just 9 weeks old by myself. Trip was fine except for the way home. Our plane left 2 hours late from STT so I missed a connection in Charlotte. So I got stranded with no luggage at midnight with a 9 week old and there were no rooms anywhere because there had been nad weather and alot of flgihts were cancelled.

Go for it mom! I think it would be nice to spend some alone time with the kids.

I plan to go with my kids. I'm hoping we can all go, but if not, it might be just me and my kids. Anybody else considering this in October??

kygirl,
do you take the kids out of school to go in October, or do they have a fall break? I would love to go in October, but I'd have to pull them out of school.

I would have to pull them out a couple of days. They get a 5 day weekend that they call a fall break. I wish it was longer! I don't have a problem pulling them out for a couple of days, but I wouldn't take them out any longer than that either.

I can definitely see myself doing this, esp. when the kids are older. I wouldn't do it with the under 3 set, but 4 and up I am pretty game.

I have more leave than my hubby anyway ;-)

Do it! That is a good time to be here with the kidos. That is during carnival time and they have a kids village set up with games that my son LOVES. We go every day. There aren't a lot of games...but enough to keep them occupied. They can win coins and get prizes with them. My son will be 8 mid June, so maybe we can get them together while you are here?
