Anyone ever come home and accidentally drive on the left?

I did that today, luckily it wasn't a busy street!

Yes, it always feels weird that first day back to drive on the right again.

Oddly enough no. But my good friend who lived on STT akways had to remind himself when he visited the mainland.

Don't they say it takes 2 weeks to learn a new habit? Most of my trips last about 10 days... maybe if I stayed a few more days I'd be in the same boat!

Yep this happens to us everytime. it just seems like the normal thing to do. if we are on a road by ourselves we will drive on the left just to pretend!!

After our first trip my husband did it at the airport. He says that it actually makes more sense to drive on the left. I haven't ever done it . . . we just list one driver with the rental company. I would love to try it next time!!

I always have trouble with it and the sad part about it is that I never drive on STJ. SO does all of the driving.

When I get home though, I find that when turning onto two lane roads (with one lane going each way) - not sure what the correct term is - I frequently can't figure out which side to be on.

Funny story, I was the designated driver after a fishing trip once and we were all in the car, and I was just sitting there. One of my intoxicated passengers asked me what I was waiting for. I started laughing and said I was trying to figure out which side of the road to be on. They all laughed, and that person said maybe he should be driving as at least he knew which side to drive on

It may not happen when I first get home but, may happen 2-3 months later when I'm tuning onto a road that has no lines...talk about flashbacks...the ones from the 70's are'nt that strong

This trip will be the first time I'll have to do some left-side driving so I'll let you know when I get home. If I don't post by Feb. 5th you'll know it didn't go well.

Yes, after each trip. Seems to happen mostly in our neighborhood for some reason - maybe it’s on roads without a center line.

Even months after coming home there will be lapses of confusion – “which side should I be on?”. Luckily this has only happened in the car on not on the motorcycle.

I only drove once on STJ and that was this past Nov. I did drive on the left once in my subdivision my first day home. It just seems more natural. I guess I should move to STJ! 8)
