Interesting Flight to STT Yesterday

Post by Randy in MD »

After so many flights over the years, my main interest these days is getting to STT safely and on-time. I tend to quickly forget the flight experience itself as soon as its over. Yesterday though we had the pleasure of flying with and talking to Steve Simon and Doug & Claire, recent former owners of the Donkey Diner. They were all with us from DCA through MIA and on to STT. So although we weren't sitting together on the plane, we had some great conversation in the boarding areas for both of our flights. We've known Doug & Claire for quite some time and it was good catching up with them on the subject of selling the DD and what they're doing now. They're still living here and while Doug is persuing another venture, Claire is enjoying her time off from the restaurant business. We'd never met Steve, and he is quite an engaging fellow. He's very excited about the release of his live CD and was very animated in describing his tour of Iraq with Bluesapalooza for the troops. We told him we'd be at his CD release party on Sunday at the Beach Bar and that brought a huge smile to his face. Anyway... It made for a quick and enjoyable passage of time in both airports. BTW - we enjoyed a late dinner at Island Blues last night and the food was delicious. There was a great blues band playing. Afterwords, we enjoyed the sound of Inner Visions drifting up to our porch from Sputnicks. Nice start to our 10 day stay...

Steve Simon is such a pleasure to chat with.
Enjoy your 10 days.
I am glad Island Blues is getting good reviews.
Someone said that just got back, they tried Crazy Cracker and loved it.

For me the flight is always the worst part of any trip, I'm happy to hear that yours was somewhat enjoyable! Guess I'll have to rent Reef Madness sometime so I can sit on the porch and listen to Inner Visions from Sputniks. What a perfect evening! Ok, I'm jealous!

Randy, glad you had a enjoyable flight! Please be sure to leave some rum on the island for me :) Can't wait to stay at your beautiful villa - just 15 days for me to be where you are!
