Further adventures in "Deep Freeze Land"

Post by mcdomzal »

So today my husband leaves for work in his car with the brand spankin' new window (thanks to me  )and he's back in 5 minutes. Guess what......flat tire! Oh, and he ran into the snow blower pulling back into the garage.

New day, new problems. Oh, and it's -17 without the wind chill.

We must be having a heat wave here in PA. It's 7 degrees with a windchill of 3! I don't feel so bad anymore.

XOXO

Mcdomzal - Could you just tell the guy to take a day off! He's obviously having a streak of Bad Cold Luck. He's already reached three with the window, then the tire, then the snow blower. I'd say he shouldn't push it!

Keep warm!

That stinks! If I were him I would put my pjs back on, light a fire in the fireplace, and call it a day.

Here is some food for thought. The SpiceCam says STJ is 81 degrees. Our wind chill is -29. That means we are 110 degrees colder than STJ  .
Going "home" again October 26th!

My son is flying to Minneapolis today, so I just looked at their temps at weather channel.

EIGHTEEN BELOW...FEELS LIKE 37 BELOW!

WHEW!

He lives in Philadelphia so when he returns he will appreciate what he thinks are cold winters!

All of you folks in the bitter cold have my deepest condolences. I won't tell you what our temperature is going to be today, it would be mean of me, and I'm sure you don't want to hear it anyway. Stay warm!!!

To Brenda...

The engineer in me must point out that your comparison of windchill with non windchill is an unfair comparison... I'll bet that 81 on STJ feels more like 78 or 79 when you factor in the windchill factor... so maybe the difference is only 107 or so...

Either way I'd take it compared to our -6 this a.m., not sure what it was with the windchill...

My SUV today listed the temperature as
minus 17 degrees. Didn't know Toyota could
list a minus!! School was on for all of our kids.
Please write more trip reports everyone.
I am feeling very sad that we just cancelled our
spring break. I had the miles and everything.
Scary times ahead still for husband in financial
work-world!! Need to think of upbeat things to do
in Chicago in March- that are free. Have a very sad
sixteen year old daughter, but we have a warm home
so I am thankful for that. Love reading this board.
I told Pia I am sending school supplies to St. John
since I cannot send myself. Have to turn lemons into
lemonade!!

JCM-- That's the spirit. It's all about the karma.

Send the supplies and good things soon come your way!!

Hey-- if anything the forum is cheaper than therapy!!

JCM---Nice attitude. If it makes you feel better, we are freezing here in Iowa too (-17 two nights ago), and--more importantly---I've unfortunately had to put off our family Spring Break to St. John as well(partly the economy but mostly a work conflict)and all flights were booked with miles. Misery loves company. Enjoy Chicago!

Iowaguy - That's terrible! I know you guys out in Iowa are experiencing the same weather as we are. And you had to cancel your vacation?!......I'll stop complaining.

Maybe you can start planning your next trip?? That always seems to help.
